Bad324
Headed to the NC coast for Labor Day weekend leaving Friday after work so they want to get a hotel that night and sounds like we will end up in this area. Looks like our route is 52 into Winston-Salem then east on 421/40B to Greensboro then onto 70 east all the way to our destination Looking just for a decent place to stay that isn't expensive but isn't a shit hole or in a shitty area so can anyone suggest anything? turnone
Tons of hotels all along the I40. What do you consider a good price?
ohiomike
I usually use google earth to scout the area. It will also show places to eat and stay. You can get rates as well as customer feedback that way. Can't be too careful considering how many places are infested with critters (bedbugs) nationwide. max power
Keep going to Raleigh. Winston-Salem is like Toledo, a hellhole. Greensboro isn't much better.
Bad324
Keep going to Raleigh. Winston-Salem is like Toledo, a hellhole. Greensboro isn't much better. This might actually end up happening. When I posted we weren't leaving until 6pm but now there's a chance we could leave by 4 and make it to Raleigh
baptizo
Avoid that area like the plague and try to get closer to Raleigh/Cary if at all possible and then you're only 2 hours from the coast.
baptizo
Also avoid Durham if possible. WTF....I thought I hit edit but somehow quoted myself.....ugh. Edited August 13, 2013 by baptizo
turnone
Wendover avenue has plenty to eat and stay right off 421/40. Heavy traffic from there to Raleigh, avoid rush hours. Once clear of Raleigh less traffic. Durham can be rough.
