Does anybody use them? Trying to get feedback because my mom has Time Warner and they are ripping her off really bad. My step-dad never much cared and just paid the bill but now I'm trying to fix that issue and Windstream is the only other carrier in her area

Windstream is who I am forced to use for DSL. It is expensive I think for what I get ($79 after taxes for 12 Mb) but I have had only one outage in 10+ years of service. Their customer service is excellent, though again I haven't had to use them often. But with DSL comes the ebb and flow of speed. Depending on his needs YMMV. As a telecommuter for IT often, I would appreciate a faster product.

I'm in a similar boat. Time Warner just hiked my bill +24 a month. They said my 2 year promo price is now over. I asked if I could get it back, they said no. I'm pissed. I just have basic cable and internet. They're my only cable option, and I don't want to go to Direct TV.

We've decide that we're going to go ahead and just cancel cable completely. I don't watch enough TV to justify spending that much. But internet is a must, so we'd either have to keep TW for internet only (I just want to give them the boot), or we can pick up internet service from Century Link.

It only saves $20 and I'd rather her have nothing than time warner

That sucks.  I had Windstream in Newark several years ago, and it was FAR less reliable than Time Warner has been for me, and I wanted JUST DSL, no home phone, but it was cheaper to keep the phone back then.  I'm would hope that their quality has improved.

For TV, I've been with Directv for about 10 years, and even though they aren't exactly "cheap" and the rates do keep going up, I have tried out the others (Time Warner, Dish) and did not like either.

I've had Dish.

I've had TW.

I have DirecTV and it's not any better.

All of their programming sucks.

It's full of 24 hr commercials.

I have Windstream DSL.  It's fine.

I had RoadRunner through TW.  It sucked, fiber optic or not.

I've thought about getting rid of TV service and getting one

of those antenna boxes for free TV and just subscribing to

Net Flicks.  For what TV costs me, I'm paying much more than

I think it's worth.

I deal with their coporate sutomer service. It's not as bad as Frontier, or Century Link.

If you can get away from sports you will not have a problem. You don't even need a box if you have a newer TV.

I didn't know about the newer TV's.  They don't need

a separate box to use an antenna?

I'm not a sports guy.  My eyes glaze over watching

people fight for domination of a ball.  I like watching

cars drive around in circles, motorcycles on a track,

and girls wearing very skimpy outfits.

Nope. Most newer TV's have a digital tuner built in. No need for a converter box.

You might have a problem with that lineup. As most of it is not available over the air.
