I have a 52" Insignia that all of a sudden one day would just not turn on, I have already went out and bought a new TV. Question i have is it worth fixing and keeping for a bigger bedroom TV or should i just use this as target practice? It is a plasma if that makes a difference?

That is what i was thinking is $100 at the max, I already replaced it with a 60" Samsung smart TV so was thinking if it is a cheap fix and someone here new about them then great, if not this thing may see an Uzi followed by something big!

I'm in the same position with my 47" Vizio LCD.

The front light indicates its on but the display is black. I may open it up to see if anything obvious is wrong but i am guessing it is a board that needs replaced, which appears to cost more than its worth. :(

I actually had a technician over last night for a different issue. He told me it is the power board which retails for $300 new. I am going to search e bay and a couple others and see if i can get one for around $100 and if so fix it. It is as simple as removing the back cover, unplugging the old one and plugging in the new power supply. If not, this bitch is getting blown up!

Just a guess sight un-seen. Bad capacitors on the power board. $10 at radio shack.
