Traded in the Subaru for a 07 ford explorer sport trac

So I needed a bigger daily driver just traded in my 06 scoobie for a 07 sport trac. I hope it does me well, I like the fact it has more room and a small truck bed. Looked for a month to find the one I wanted got what I feel was a good deal on it and a fair trade for my beat down scoobie. I know I will loose some MPG on it but it is more suited to what I need right now. I did the online research and think it was a good buy for what it is. will post pics when I can only have a few bad cell pics for now. It is going to be used for a daily driver, hunting rig and camper puller.

Now for the mods LOL! I want it to be a daily driver but would not mind more power and ground clearance. It needs to be able to get around at camp and haul my gear and camper (12 foot box pop-up) For now it will get tires and a fresh set of fluids. Tires by winter mods to follow. Thinking bfg rugged trails and a set of springs and shocks.

Congrats! I've got an '08 sport trac I n V8 trim. I love it! I'm really disappointed they discontinued it. Ford is forcing everyone to the F150. Which is much larger than I need.

The nice thing about the sport trac is the back seat. It's a full size back seat like the regular explorer. Most other compact trucks that are 4 door like the tacoma or frontier are not as roomy.

You'll love her. Great in the winter. Look into the wrangler duratrac is you want beefy tires.

What is the difference between this and a crew cab f150 with short bed? (serious question... They're almost identical.. Why Explorer instead of f150)?

Chassis, engines, an cost, to name a few.

That said, JB's 4x4 F150 with the 5.0 gets as good or better mileage than my 4.0 ranger did...

Yeah it has the v6 4.0, and i dont need a full size truck. This is the right size for what i needed. Scott you didnt want the scoobie it was starting to develope some problems. I hope someone else starts making midsize trucks again the options are getting slim out there. Drove it in to work today dash computer said i averaged 25 mpg? Seems kinda high will check it when i put gas in and can check against milage.

25 is pretty unheard of for that engine.  I managed 22 driving to Philadelphia behind my mother-in-law, without the AC running.  In general mixed-driving conditions, 17-18 was pretty common.  At the time I owned the truck, I had a short commute to work though, so more highway might pull that up closer to 20 mpg.    Unless maybe Ford updated the transmission.  If you've got a 5 or 6 speed automatic, that would likely help a lot.

The on dash display is called the "lie-o-meter" for a reason....  Trust me, you're not getting anywhere near that good of mileage with that motor.  If you avg 18+ I would be pretty surprised, which is good for that vehicle.  That's mixed driving, not all highway.  May see 20 all highway.

Good looking truck, I originally went to buy one after my Ranger got totaled but walked out with an F150 instead, then just kept going bigger.    Just got 10.15mpg towing a 5th wheel TH weighing in at over 13,000 loaded with my 6.4 F250, so pretty happy with the motors Ford's been putting out lately.

 FORD!!!

Sold it, to small for the family to use got a 8 person pop up camper to replace it with.

I was amazed to read the capacities of some of the newer pop-up campers.  they have showers and bathrooms now?!

I need to see some interior pics of an 8-person pop-up.   Toy hauler may never be in my future, but bike in the pickup bed with pop-up camper behind it could actually be a reality some day.

My dash display has always been within 0.1-0.2 of hand calcs, not sure if they are better on the newer models or what.

I told you it is deek, don't come in here spewing your junk.  I hate you, now I'm not paying you for shipping my pins to that guy.
