Carwhore
I've had low water pressure the entire time I've moved into my house. I'm looking at getting a Kenetico water softner and I'm afraid I won't have any pressure when it regenerates.I've checked my pressure tank and adjusted it. I raised my switch pressure to 40-60.The Kenetico rep checked the water pressure (at 30psi running pressure) showed 4gpm.Would this be my pressure tank itself or would it be the well pump? cmh_sprint
That would be the pressure tank. When you checked your pressure tank did you drain the entire system? If not then you didn't get an accurate reading. If you did and the pressure was low you most likely have a hole in the bladder which = new pressure tank. redbarron77
double check the tank's bladder. I remember when the bladder went out and the pump ran all the time, the pressure was abysmal too.
Gixxus Christ!
There's also supposed to be static air pressure in the pressure tank...I forget where to check it tho.

I'm guessing that 30 psi running pressure means that thepump is running at that point. That sounds very good. I'm also guessing that there is a check valve (back flowpreventer) between the the pump and the tank. It couldbe leaky and allowing you to lose pressure in the system. It should also cause your pump to kick on more often thannecessary in order to keep the system pressurized. That's my 2¢ worth, today for free. .

2talltim
check vale is usually down the well by the pump
Gump
i run 80-110psi at the switch, but that's because the well and p tank are 80 yards away down hill.If your house has fairly modern fixtures they all probably have flow restrictors in them. From the kitchen sink to the shower head. I hate them. You could have 200psi and it will still suck. You can normally remove them very easily or drill them out. Normally a little plastic thing with a small hole in it that doesn't really need to be there. max power
John, if you need a good well repairman to look at it, text me. I have a friend who is very good with well systems and very reasonable. He's replacing my bad pressure tank and moving it inside this weekend.
