Tonik
Hopefully this won't turn into a political debate, if it does I will report the thread to a mod and have it moved to the Politics forum. There is an open source free app for Android and iPhone's that does text messaging and phone calls. It travels across the interwebs fully encrypted so that the FBI/NSA can't read them or listen in. It is well funded by grants and donations and is run by some very reliable folks. To be 100 percent secure both parties of the conversation need to have the app. If only you have it all of your 'sends' are private and encrypted. Plus there is a handy button to hit to try and get the recipient to switch. Also it isn't a pile of crap, it is a good messaging app. https://whispersystems.org/ Edited February 29, 2016 by Tonik
Casper
I was under the impression iMessage is encrypted end to end. Is the main advantage here that it works across Android/iOS?
TimTheAzn
Thats the worst being in a group chat with an iphone and someone with an android comes in. Loose all the cool functionality that imessage has, like being able to remove yourself from those aforementioned annoying group messages.

DAC
I use iBoring. Causes NSA/FBI to fall into a coma after reading my texts or listening to my calls.
snot
It's what I say here I worry about. Nothing in txt or calls are incriminating on my end...or so I think.
