redkow97
Is the opening a different size on different years?
blue03636
I don't know if you can fit the wrong year filter/reducer in the air box, some years of air boxes are different and the velocity stacks are different. I would be curious to see what was actually found. Edited March 20, 2017 by blue03636
Jester_
If you buy an aftermarket air filter for an R6 the opening is normally larger than the OEM filter and most orgs want either an oem filter or there is an additional snorkel piece on some aftermarket filters to make the intake smaller. The performance gain is minimal if any at all and is a source of contention between alot of people.

Jester_
Yup, and after market picture has the snorkel that fits on the filter.

blue03636
If I remember reading what CJ received, the aftermarket one was ok as long as the snorkel was on it. Not really sure why but it's something with CCS and the super stock rules.
Jester_
Yup as long as that snorkel is on then its legal. So that is the piece that cost Cory 25k Edited March 20, 2017 by Jester_

blue-yamaR6s
An over looked detail I am sure. Probably not something the teams look at until inspection catches it?
TimTheAzn
It should be something the teams know and look at.
