Popular Post Howabusa
I have talked about riding to the west coast and back forever! I always make excuses to not go. Too expensive, take too long, the bike might break down, I might need tires part way. No more! I am 58 and could fucking drop dead tomorrow. The only thing that can stop me is the money. As long as we can swing that I am going this summer. I figure 2 to 3 weeks. My plan is hit the Badlands and other places going west to eventually ride the pacific coast. Then head east across the Southwest. Not sure if I want head up to Colorado or just stay south. My sister has lived in the San Fran area for 30 years and I have never been out. Figured I’d stop and bother her while I am out there. I have a cousin out there that says he is going to Sturgis this year. I want to go to Sturgis, once. Need to plan for a couple of days there. I plan on trying to camp, as much as possible. I already have all the gear for that. Edited February 1, 2018 by Howabusa 1 2

drc32-0
Just do it.Fuck the money,if your health holds out you can always make more money. If your health doesn't hold out it isn't going to matter anyway. You've got the right bike for it...I 've been out there 3 times on FJRs.It's not that expensive if you camp and you'll meet a lot of Interesting people in campgrounds.Speaking of camping...reserve site 44 in Samual P Taylor S.P. in Oleama for a night or two, nothing like camping in the redwoods. You might as well do the Beartooth Pass on you're way out,it will keep you heading west anyways.Definitely ride highway 1 North out of San Francisco at least to Urieka. The best motorcycle road in America! If you can ride the section just North of S.F. from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach early on a Sunday morning....not much traffic then, and that section is a blast if you can catch it without traffic! But damn near all of it is a blast and especially in the Ft Bragg area once you leave the ocean and go through the forest near Leggit.Just do it,you won't regret it.
Howabusa
My northern route includes, badlands national park, needles highway, Sturgis, devils tower, the northeast of Yellowstone to the Beartooth. Then over to the coast and down to Monterey bay.
MSerfozo
If you don't do it, someday you'll have to make excuses for why you didn't.

We were out west in the Jeep and saw a lot. So, I am trying to hit some of the places me missed. The ultimate goal is the PCH. I have always heard how great it is. thompsonian
There is going to be an FJR gathering in Yosemite in 2019. The same group of folks from EOM. If you're a member of one of the forums, there's a post about it.
Pokey
I highly recommend heading through the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas, and then making your way to New Mexico. NM is bar none the best riding I have ever done, the scenery and the roads are second to none, and they are also practically no traffic anywhere "that can be good or bad LOL". You must hit the Devils highway in Arizona, it makes the Tail of the Dragon seem pretty tame in comparison. There is no question that you MUST hit Colorado, once you visit there you'all understand why. Head out to the West coast from there, then head North and hit everything up there on the way back home. blue72beetle
In May of 2015 my girlfriend and I did this in two weeks. Experienced all four seasons, but it was awesome, wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
Popular Post Nomadmax
I've never planned anything in my whole life. Take your trip friend; no matter what it takes; these images are nothing compared to the memories. One day I'll be old and unable, but I won't have regret about where I might have gone. Howabusa
My sister is moving from the San Francisco area to the small California town of Ukiah, fight off of 101! Cool!
magley64
I did the LA ride a few years back. Did it in 1 week, including a full Saturday in LA. Do NOT try a new shampoo on the first night of the trip, my head was itchy as hell the whole way from St. Louis to Amarillo.
cOoTeR
If you come through Arizona let me know. I ride the Devils Highway a couple times every year.
