Taken from a Corvette Magazine online article accidentally posted too early and removed. Credit to hawaiianswiss and others on corvetteforum.com:

EDIT: Apparently, the Z06 cover image has been changed to the one currently appearing. Interesting...

EDIT EDIT: All pics were removed from the host at some time today. Still available in Speci@lized's thread in The Passing Lane.

Advanced chassis and body materials:

Perimeter-style frame

Aluminum main rails

Magnesium engine cradle

Carbon-fiber front fenders and wheelhouses

Sheet-carbon floorboards

Non-removable magnesium roof panel (lowers the Cg and greatly increases rigidity)

Heavy duty performance components:

Larger brakes

Heavier antiroll bars

Wider wheels

Nearly 50 pounds less than the standard C6 (3130 total)

Visual updates:

Central hood intake

Flared wheelarches (three inches wider than standard)

Cooling ducts for the rear brakes

Stouter front-fender vents

Reworked nose and tail caps

Interior:

Unique lighter, grippier leather seats

Smaller three-spoke wheel,

Standard HUD and A/C

Reduced sound insulation

Engine:

LS7 427CID

500HP at 6200 rpm

475 lbs-ft @ 4800 rpm

Lightweight internals give a 7000rpm redline

1/4mi. times under 12sec.

Exterior dimensions and general layout as LS2

Separate block casting

Assembled by hand at GM's new Performance Build Center in Wixom MI.

Aluminum block

Lightweight titanium connecting rods

Aluminum flat-top pistons

11.0:1 compression

Six-bolt, CNC-machined, forged-steel main caps

Racing-style dry-sump oiling (complete lubrication under all cornering loads)

Aluminum heads, CNC machined (18% improvement in airflow over LS2)

Nearly straight tunnel-like intake runners

2.2-inch titanium intake valves

1.62-inch, sodium-filled hollow exhaust valves

Hydraulic-roller cam (.591-inch lift)

Super-high-ratio rocker arms

Hydroformed four-into-one tubular headers

Model-unique set of catalytic converters & dual-mode mufflers

Mufflers utilize a vacuum operated valve, closed at low rpm (reduce noise); open at larger throttle angles (minimum backpressure)

Lightweight flywheel and clutch assembly

Strengthened Tremec six-speed transaxle

Gearbox pump that routes transmission fluid through the front radiator stack for additional cooling, after which the chilled fluid is also used to help cool the lubricant in the limited-slip diff on the way back.

Limited-slip differential with enlarged ring-and-pinion assembly

Upgraded halfshafts and U-joints

Suspension Components:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars

Front: 275/35ZR18

Rear: 325/30ZR19

Z06-specific split-spoke alloys

18x9.5 front

19x12 rear

Performance upsizing of the spring rates, antiroll-bar diameters, and braking hardware

14" vented and crossdrilled rotors under new six-piston calipers up front

13.4" rears with four-piston calipers

Titties and Beer!!!!

And it looks a LOT easier to convert this to a targa top than the C5 Z06 (my only real complaint about the Z06). Too bad GM won't just offer it with an open top stock.

Damn that car is freaking sexy. And should put the hurt on a LOT of cars that cost an assload more money. As long as they don't ZR1 its price, that thing is going to sell like hotcakes (yummmmm.....hotcakes......).

Rumors have been going around that the top is held in place by "eight bolts." If this is the case, I expect the roof to be easy to remove (with a wrench like C4s), or the aftermarket will come up with a quick release mod. However, if the roof is bonded, it will be tough, but I have seen a few C5 Z06s with a targa conversion.
