I've decided i'm more than likely going to sell my DSM whenever I get it back. What are some good car's around $5,000 that would be a semi-fast and reliable car? Mustangs, older camaro's, imports...

Thanks,

Cody

You can find MKIII Supras around that price. Might be able to find turbo ones too but it would be a harder find. You can do MKI MR2 SC's but they're not terrably fast stock but you can upgrade. You can also go the 240 route or, if nissan, there's the 300zx. Also Mitsubish had a starion that was cool. That's for the imports.

For domestics you have your f-bodies and fox body mustangs and some dodge/chrysler turbo's.

Maybe shy away from Mitsubishi and Dodge/Chrysler turbos if reliability is a concern.

Iv'e got two foxbodies. Ones a daily driver that I drive everywhere with no problems that will still run consistant high 13's low 14's. Foxbodies are good on the highway but when you drive around the city its hurts when you look at gas prices that are near or above two dollars. Plus the aftermarket for the 5.0 is quite extensive. My best friend just bought a 89 coupe with only 60,000 miles with a brand new paint job for 4900. The car is completely stock but he bought it in New Jersey and drove all the way home to Ohio without one problem. I also have a biased opinion, just my 2 cents.

i've driven nothing but fbodies since i turned 16...i'm on my 6th or 7th i think and all have been 3rd gens except my last two. i think they're about as reliable as any other car if you can do your on basic maintenance, however if this is a car you need to drive in the winter time i recommend getting a winter beater along with it. you could find a real nice 3rd gen for around 4000 if you look. then buy a 1000 cavy or escort or something to get you through the winters. i found a 96 cavalier for $1300, so the Z stays garaged all winter.

I wouldn't mind getting another Honda. I Absolutely loved mine. If I did get another honda it'd have to be a hatchback or an acura GS-R.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm I would take that RIGHT NOW if I had $6,500. I'm close. I need to sell my POS first to whomever. My friend might buy my GSX when I get it back and then I will have enough for your Z28. Hope you still have it!

GTP.....fast, reliable, not bad on gas (mines gets 24mpg), and very comfortable. I have one for sale for $6K, if interested (its not the one in my sig). Sign on clubgp.com and get all the info you need. Great cars, I love mine.

You can find pleanty of fox bodies or SN95 body style stangs and LT1 F bodies for around 5K grand. I have nothing against hondas and stuff...but just never really wanna drive anything other than a V-8 car if I have my choice...they are still just as realiable, faster and sound better.

So many people say they arent but I know of a ton some even pushing 500+HP on 150K plus mile engines. So I would say yaay to the V-8 car.

If thats not your deal the grand prix, or grand am GTs you can find a ton of thsoe in really nice shpe for cheap prices ...most that are even fully loaded (i know cause i have one..lol) but its all up to you on what you really want.
