BlackC50
I am currently in the market looking for a new ignition for my new motor. I am doing a carbureted setup so I was looking for a good ignition for that application, any recommendations/warnings?

Tinman
Avoid the new digital MSDs, a friend of mine went through two in a 4 months/less than 300 miles. After the second one crapped out he resorted to a 6al.
Dave1647545494
I ran a MSD 6AL with an hei base (no module) accel cap and rotor and autolite pro 8mm wires on my big block with good results.

Nitrousbird
Are you planning just an N/A motor, or running a power adder? N/A, just go with the 6AL. Boost or Nitrous, give the Mallory Hyfire VI (#685). Basically a Digital 6 w/ a digital display using pushbutton controls to change all the settings, + a built-in window switch, and boost proportional timing retard w/ the optional harness/map sensor. Of course it has all the regular stuff, like dual-stage rev limiters, start retard, nitrous retard, etc. I had a MSD Digital 6+. Actually, 4 of them. I sold the 4th one, as I wasnt' going to deal with that crap anymore; luckily MSD is good about their warranty work. I replaced it with the Hyfire, which BTW is quite a bit cheaper too. I sold my used Digital 6 and used window switch to buy a brand new Hyfire VI w/ money to spare. smile.gif You can use the MSD wiring harnesses with it too; my MSD LT1 harness is hooked up to it.
