smokin5s
Ok, I'm tired of messing with my valve lash, I've decided to take it to a mechanic.... What shops are good shops around the Reynoldsburg - Gahanna area? It would be preferable if they are knowledgable with LT1 motors. Thanks! Dave1647545494
hydrualic cam? its easy if you can have the valve cover off with the engine idleing. thats right off. with the motor idleing engine warm back the rocker arm nut off till the valve just starts to tick or rattle a little bit then slowly(or the car will stall) tighten the nut till the tick stops. after the ticking just stops tighten the nut 1(one) full turn a quarter of a turn at a time. I can show you if you have an inside place to work and don't mind doing it at night. if its a solid lifter cam you need a feeler guage but its still not too dificult lemme know
SupraGlue
For hydraulic cams, you can take a junkyard valve cover and drill holes in it so that you can turn the adjuster nuts without spraying oil everywhere. It works pretty well. smile.gif

It's driving me insaine! I have a well lit up garage and I work durring the day, so night time is the only time i have to work on my car anyways. If you wanna come over and give me a hand, I would REALLY appriciate it, and if you want a few bucks for it, let me know and I"m sure we can work something out. I haven't had to do that in a LONG time, but it didn't seem like it was a big ordeal. I did just as described above-had the covers off and adjusted them while running. Granted I had no clue what I was doing really, just following the old' HP BOOK for 350 chevy small block instructions. I'm like you though, there is a certain point where I feel like I've fooled with something too long and it is not worth the price of my time to go any further. Lay a couple bucks down and get it done if you have to. There is no shame in that!

I'm just sick of working on the car at this point and I'm willing to pay someone to do it. It doesn't seem hard, and on other cars, it's not, but for some reason, on mine, it's a total PITA... even ask John or Joe... they are having the same problem as me. Anyone wanna do it for a few bucks... maybe some beer?

I need to try to tighten down that passanger side header before I put the valve cover back on, so I just cleaned up for the night. I'm going to try to get that tightened up and put it on. I'll let you know. Thanks for all your help!!!!

John and I re-did the lash this morning. idles ALLOT smoother now. I tightened the hell out of the headers.... not nearly the ticking there was, but it's deffinately still there. I had to dremel the hell out of my headers to get them to fit, so I'm woundering if I just have a hole in there. I'm thinking maybe some soap and water or something to see if it blows bubbles on it. Also, my plugs are pretty fouled because of house insainely rich I'm running right now. so that's the two next things to do. Do you by any chance know how to edit fuel tables?
