now, we can expect more of the same. that area will never be peaceful, and heres why....

"8 And the child grew, and was weaned; and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. 9 But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, playing with her son Isaac. 10 So she said to Abraham, "Cast out this slave woman with her son; for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac." 11 And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son. 12 But God said to Abraham, "Be not displeased because of the lad and because of your slave woman; whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your descendants be named. 13 And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring." 14 So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. 15 When the water in the skin was gone, she cast the child under one of the bushes. 16 Then she went, and sat down over against him a good way off, about the distance of a bowshot; for she said, "Let me not look upon the death of the child." And as she sat over against him, the child lifted up his voice and wept. 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, and said to her, "What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not; for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him fast with your hand; for I will make him a great nation." 19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink. 20 And God was with the lad, and he grew up; he lived in the wilderness, and became an expert with the bow. 21 He lived in the wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt."

a little later on, after abrahams death....

"12 These are the descendants of Ish'mael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham. 13 These are the names of the sons of Ish'mael, named in the order of their birth: Neba'ioth, the first-born of Ish'mael; and Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Ked'emah. 16 These are the sons of Ish'mael and these are their names, by their villages and by their encampments, twelve princes according to their tribes. 17 (These are the years of the life of Ish'mael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his kindred.) 18 They dwelt from Hav'ilah to Shur, which is opposite Egypt in the direction of Assyria; he settled over against all his people."

who else was in the line of ishmael? mohamed. the founder of islam. and isaac? you guessed it, jesus. and according to god, his covenant was with isaac...

"Sarah your wife shall bear you a son," God tells Abraham in Genesis I7: I9-2I. "And you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac. . . ."

there are some more twists and turns in this great drama, but that is the main thrust of it, and that is why the middle east will never be peaceful.

fuck him, he's a terrorist and he won a nobel peace prize for it. I hope it was very painfull death....

Incorrect, he was a leader who couldn't control his people. If a bun of texans started driving exploding rental cars into federal buildings, would W be a terrorist?

He actuly tried to raise a conventional army, but the weapons were intercepted by us while they were still on the water.

I'm relatively indifferent bout his death. I hope whoever takes his place will be more willing to negotiate, but I dont think the Israelis are entitled to what they've got, let alone more. Both sides are fucked up and currently deserving of no respect. In such a case, I have to side with the people who were there first, and here's a hint; they dont wear yammica's.

I am throwing the BULLSHIT flag on this one because you don't have the slightest inkling of the right idea here. Let's look at his awesome record as a statesman, shall we?

Arafat and the PLO plunged Lebanon into massacres, rape, mutilation, rampages of looting and killings in 1976. The eyes of the children were gone and their limbs were cut off. No legs and no arms; 582 people were massacred in the storming of Damour.

It is a well known fact: Yasser Arafat took control of the PLO in 1964 and began directing terror raids on Israel. By 1968, Yasser Arafat had taken control of Fatah. Ever hear the phrase "driving the Jews into the sea"? That's these guys.

Arafat once declared Jerusalem as his home town: "This is my city ... This is where I was born." But he was not born in Jerusalem, not even in Gaza, but in Cairo in 1929 as is well documented. Filthy attempt to lay personal claim to the holy city; quite shameless really.

On the night of March 2, 1973, PLO gunmen pumped 40 bullets into the bodies of the US ambassador to Sudan and two other diplomats held hostage at the Saudi embassy in Khartoum. Who do you figure ordered that one, hmmm?

In an address to the Palestinian Council in Ramallah on 5/10/97, the eve of Israeli Independence Day, Arafat said that the anniversary of the creation of Israel is "Palestine Holocaust Day" and "the Palestinian people were submitted to the worst holocaust in history." Sounds touching, but I have to say he was a twisted, evil man for even thinking those words.

Say what you will; those exerpts are merely a fraction of the accounts from Arafat's filthy existence. So I digress and remind you, just who are the Palestinians? They are NOT the rightful inhabitants of Jerusalem or the Israeli lands to which they lay claim. No nation, other than the ancient nation of Israel and later again in 1948 with the rebirth of the 2nd Nation of Israel, has ever ruled as a sovereign national entity on this land.

And God said to Abram:

"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

Bottom line: leaving for ~2000 years negates any claim of ownership that the Israelis have. And saying the Holocaust is a rationale for establishing a Jewish state is like boarding up your house three weeks after the end of hurricane season.
