I just think it's a bit two-faced to be judgemental toward them when we've all done it.

no. we have not.

ive never ridden like a jackass like the ppl in that video. never split traffic thats moving at 65 mph. never split between a semi truck while going over the speed limit.

for the record, im not against lane splitting. but its to be done when traffic is moving very slowly. if everyone is going 65, there is no reason to split.

splitting lanes while traffic is at a dead stop or crawling along at a snails pace is one thing. splitting lanes going 80 or faster is another completely.

:plus1: I definitely think being able to filter up at stops should be legal.

in pretty much every other country in the world it is.

its standard practice in europe. in fact, in spain, they just started putting areas at the front of the line at traffic lights for bikes only.

I was going to say the same thing. Their lane splitting is done wrong. Lane splitting in of itself isn't that bad of a thing, IMHO. Its even accepted (maybe even legal but not sure) in places like California. But, the traffic there is completely different. In San Francisco, for example, the traffic is bumper to bumper four lanes accross. And many of the highways like the Golden Gate Bridge don't have exits for miles. Those two things make it a bit safer because you don't have people switching lanes. Their speed is relatively constant and no one is switching lanes. But in the video, those guys are riding through huge pockets of highway void that many of those cars may decide to enter. At those speeds, you cannot fault a driver for any accident that were to occur.
