MrMeanGreen
Yes folks, I'm selling the MR2. Here we go... The Good 1991 Toyota MR2 Red 178k miles on body 19k miles since total engine rebuild (runs excellent and doesn't leak a damned thing) 2.2L 5SFE non-turbo I4 Four-speed automatic 26mph city/29mpg highway Removeable sunroof Four-wheel disc brakes ABS Rear window defroster Tilt wheel Factory alloy rims with good tires (60-70% tread) Cruise control Power locks Power windows Power mirrors 2" drop, new coilovers/struts Gutted cat New plugs New pads Synthetic oil New headlight covers (popup headlights) New headlight Popup headlights are fast as fuck too Blows hot, hot air for winter Detachable cupholder The Bad Tranny won't shift past 4200 RPMs, seems to be a bad shift solenoid. Either replace it, or swap in the good, working tranny (extra unit) that comes with the car. Cars shifts very firm and has no problems whatsoever shifting, it just doesn't like 4300 RPMs for some reason. After the car gets to operating temp, it will stutter at idle for 2-3 minutes. I believe this to be the IAC (idle air control) motor sticking. A quick rev in neutral or a few more minutes of driving will see it go away and not occur again until the car is shut off and brought back to operating temp as a later time. Not a problem, just retarded. The driver's door lock is intact, but won't unlock with the key. However, the car has automatic locks so when you unlock the passenger's side, it unlocks both sides. The trunk lock works, but it is sticky sometimes. Unknown if AC works or not. The compressor is there and spins freely, but there's no belt to run it. The Ugly Needs a paint job. The paint on the front facsia is flaking off and is white in some spots. The hood is missing a small "stripe" of paint (looks like duct tape), and the rear-driver's side bumper is flaking a bit too. There's a few other minor (small) dents around the car. Overall This is a VERY reliable, well-working car. It runs well, drives excellent, and handles like a slot-car. I've put almost 5k miles on it since September and ran it across the city numerous times. I really love this car. However, I'd like something with twice as many cylinders that's really loud as a daily, because that's how I am (see Firebird in sig for details). The two previous owners of the MR2 are both on CR, so it has a good, local history. This is a great vehicle for someone who wants a daily or for someone looking to auto-x. This is a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive vehicle. It handles excellent in the snow and rain, and even better on dry pavement. Also, this car runs me $220/yr for insurance, so don't worry about getting raped on that Price KBB has this car at $3800. Yes, that's rated in fair condition (which this is above that, almost good) at 178k miles. MR2s are a limited production vehicle and Toyota's entry into the "Euro-wannabe" market aimed at the US. I'm asking $1500 for this car, and it's a friggin steal at that price. However, I cannot see owning four vehicles at once, especially with the limited parking arrangements I have and extra insurance required. I'm available during the days from 10am-5pm and all day on weekends (I work 3rd shift). Post here or PM me if interested, and we'll make the proper arrangements to show the car. It does have a clean title. Thanks smile.gif
