Where do you guys like to go on vacation. I am big into diving so most of my vacations lately have been diving vacations.

Favorite spots

Vegas - (but I have family there so that can be worse than work)

Key Largo - Great diving and good scenery.

Sandals Montego Bay - Best vacation I have ever taken, going back in June.

Minnesota - North Shore area, it is where I am from.

I am going to Roatan in January for some diving, I hear it is good.

Lake Cumberland. I've had a blast both times I've taken week trips there (once w/ a sweet lodge, one with a huge houseboat). The skiing is perfect there.

Florida. Friend lives down in Vero Beach; always have a great time when I go visit.

Vegas. Went for the first time this year, and had a blast. That place will suck your money dry, though!

Lake Cumberland is the shit! I've gone for the last 10 years or so, almost every year getting a huge houseboat and its always a blast. We should get like 10-15 people from CR to go in on a houseboat, you can get like an 80ft one that sleeps 12 easy. I've got a ski boat....

Hmm, other than that I've been to Mexico a few times, Cancun, Manzanillo, and a few other fun trips, or snow skiing.

But yeah, I'd choose Lake Cumberland over almost anything.

The best vacations for families by far are cruises. Depending on the $$ you want to spend you can get a sweet 3-4 day or 7 day vacation. There are very little down sides to taking a cruise.

1. Unpack once.

2. They have staff on board that takes care of your family and maybe 2-3 others durring the trip.

3. Food is aways available and included in the price. (except alcohol)

4. They have tons of stuff to keep your kids busy and out of your hair for most of the day, so you can have a vacation too. Most ships have a casino on board.

5. You get to do day trip to some pimp places.

A few tips:

Get currency for the places you are going, but they all take american dollars. Just so you don't over pay for some little tourist trinket or for a cab ride...they don't give change. Basic spanish is very useful. Most people do speak english even if they pretend not to. Make sure to hit the "duty free" stores in the airports and on the island. Cool stuff is alway better when it's cheaper.:)

Heading to Naples Fla at the Four Season's Golf Resort on Monday!

I love canoeing the Big South Fork River Gorge from Tenn to Kentucky. Pristene river, no humans. They drop you in at Angel Falls and pick you up 3 days later, 20 miles downstream. I've shot the Class 4 rapids in a canoe 4 times and have yet to be dumped!

to be honest I don't recomend cruises... thats the womans thing to do. I like roadtrips you can stop and check oput any cool thing you want.

if you like to dive and you can afford it normandy beach in france is supposed to cool theres a ton of sunken ships and tanks and old wwii equipment still on the bottom pearl harbor is also supposed to be a cool place to dive

St. Pete Beach Florida was mediocre, not many young people there, mostly older crowd when I went.

Had an awesome time up on the islands on lake erie. Go to the hileman winery and get tanked, crawl over to downtown, get more plastered.

For the times when you arent drinking, just biking around the islands is fun. Also taking a boat around the islands is a good time.

I am a low budget guy, so no exotic places on my list to recomend.

Off season is the best time to go. Basically before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. House boats are typically 50-75% cheaper than peak season....that's a hefty discount, especially on something that expensive!

We went last year in late September, and had a blast. Slightly chilly at night, but needed nothing more than a simple sweatshirt to keep warm (or enough booze, or the hot tub). Water was very warm, and still plenty warm during the day. We had my buddy's ski boat docked to the house boat. Would have went this year, but said buddy is getting married in a couple of weeks, and my boat is still dead.

Yeah we've done both, off and during the season. It's definitely much easier on the pocket book off season and like you said, not bad at all. Where do you usually rent the boat from? We have been to Jamestown but usually go with GriderHill, and yeah we usually have one skiboat ('97 Malibu Sunsetter) and a couple waverunners. This year is definitely to late to plan, but next summer sometime I and some friends would be up for it. Beer and skiing are the best.

I go to the Pacific NW quite often (2-3 time a year). Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and Whistler are all pretty great places to visit. I usually mountain bike or snowboard depending on the time of year and I have quite a few friends in the area. If anyone is planning a trip that way let me know and I can give you some good suggestions of things to do in the area.

I don't like cruises at all, I have been on a pile of them and since I have been to Sandals I will never go on one again.

Just to do a comparo

1. Unpack once. SAME

2. They have staff on board that takes care of your family and maybe 2-3 others durring the trip. SAME except you aren't onboard anything.

3. Food is aways available and included in the price. (except alcohol) Same except Alcohol IS included in the price and since cruises charge $4+ for a beer you can get your money back.

4. They have tons of stuff to keep your kids busy and out of your hair for most of the day, so you can have a vacation too. Most ships have a casino on board. SAME

5. You get to do day trip to some pimp places. SAME

and now one extra thing, most cruise ships stop at a beach for a little beach party at Sandals EVERY DAY is a beach party. Plus free diving and watersports.

I have been to Stockholm, Sweden and to Scotland (Helensborough and Glasgow). I like Europe, it is strange to be in a developed country that isn't growing like crazy. Sort of a permanent feel to things, and the public transport system makes ours look like a bunch of disorganized morons designed it.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Maui.. We went 2 weeks last year too.. Probably my favorite place now. Scuba dived out there twice and it was amazing, you have about 120 ft vis because the water is so clear. We love Maui so much, we bought a timeshare. :)

Myrtle beach is nice, but dont expect to get good diving; the ocean is brown. But there is ENDLESS activities and places to go/see. Nags head is nice, real laid back atmosphere, along with Hilton Head.

Our next stop this year is a Sandals resort for a long weekend.
