SPLN SUX
Judge: School Pledge Is Unconstitutional AP - 6 minutes ago SAN FRANCISCO - Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools was ruled unconstitutional Wednesday by a federal judge who granted legal standing to two families represented by an atheist who lost his previous battle before the U.S. Supreme Court. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God." AHHAHAHAHA!!! Ive allways thought about making a civil suit against the state of Ohio for that but never really had the means to. I used to get introuble for not saying it too. supldys
I dont even want to touch that with a 10-foot pole, but for fuck's sake thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I was fine with the children that didn't want to say it, didn't have to. But to actually say the pledge of allegiance is unconstitutional is retarded and I hope it is overturned. Kohones
Very very sad! I'm not a religious person that goes around preaching, BUT the Pledge of Allegiance has only been in place since this country was founded. I find this disturbing & ridiculous. Whats next? Burning our flag? Changing our National Anthem? Perhaps our "mint" will now change the coins taking " In God We Trust" off of the coins! Doesn't matter to me what people believe in, God, Allah, no one? whatever, but to go to court - very sad indeed. That Dr also Atty should check out some other countries on this earth & perhaps he can find a place that would suit him better (& he can take everyone else thats on his side). They certainly have more time than most of us too!

Amy
I totally agree with you Kohones! People who have no respect for this country shouldnt be here. The men and women who have fought and and lost there lives to protect and serve this country Im sure think the disrespectful asses like above shouldnt be allowed here either. If you dont like this country get the fuck out. Just my .02 cents.
SPLN SUX
this is not the first time that the "under god" line has been to court. the pledge was first used in public schools on Oct. 12, 1892 during Columbus Day observances. The original (Francis Bellamy) 1892 wording was: "I pledge allegiance to my flag and to the Republic for which it stands: one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The pledge has been changed a few times since. For Flag Day in 1924, "the flag of the United States of America" was officially adopted as a substitution for the phrase "my flag." In 1954, the words "under God" were added, after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men's service organization, and other religious leaders who sermonized that the pledge needed to be distinguished from similar orations used by "godless communists." In 1988, Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis vetoed a bill requiring teachers to recite the pledge. So really, this has been a consant battle for the last.... 50 or 60yrs. I dont belive in god, and i refuse to say it... i just hopei never have to be sworn in in court... itll be Larry Flint all over again
supldys
I dont belive in god, and i refuse to say it... i just hopei never have to be sworn in in court... itll be Larry Flint all over again Why do people get so anal about it, whether you believe in a god, the God, many gods, no gods, whatever, it dosent matter. When you are in court, no one knows whether you are telling the truth or not. By acknowledging a higher power, you understand that you can be punished if you lie. And no I dont mean a biblical plague or anything like that. Hell, a damn tricycle is higher up than a lot of people I see in this world, so if they lie, that damn tricycle can strike them down. Or you don't believe in three-wheels either? If you really wanted to, you may be able to get them to change it to "I swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but truth so help me a power greater then me in all premises that I know to my greatest knowledge, that could take me down for any time that I abuse the trust that is being given to me." But guess what, thats a pain in the ass, and "god" pretty much sums it up. And look I don't capitalize god, because I don't really believe in the God, but I do believe there is a power greater than us, because humans are weak freaking creatures (hence all this bickering over wording) so I obviously still believe in a god, whatever it may be. desperado
Well, it has begun, the goverment is going to force American into a Religon. Atheism. And yes, Athesim is a recognized religon, so what they are doing now, IS unconstitutional. I sit and pray quietly, that Califorina become their own country and be left to fend for themselves. I wonder how they will scream out for when the forcast "Big One" hits. God is watching and he is not happy.

BloodRed
Even as much as our country said we have the freedom of religion, our country was based on religion. It is in our history. You can't change history. Has anyone else noticed that as we continue to take a God (who ever it shall be) out of our lives the more crimes are commited. More people killed, more drugs, more rapes. Kids killing kids in schools... Put those 10 Comandments back up and make people live by them. And if you haven't already noticed, our judicial system is based on the 10 Comandments. So does that make it unconstitutional also?
desperado
Welp, went they decide "Thall shall not kill" is unconstitutional, I am gonna have me some fun. What worries me is what the hell will they do next. The US is to fucking strong to be invaded or taken over. We will destroy this country from inside. This happens, and it chips away on what makes us US, the UNITED states, not just a bunch of warring factions with different ideals and motivations. Everyone else in the world seems to know this. But we, the most powerful and advanced country on the planet and we are all sitting idlely by and watching the very foundation of the country be ripped apart. And we all claim to be so fucking intelligent.

More people killed, more drugs, more rapes. Kids killing kids in schools... So by that rationaille, the more prevalent we make God in our laws and countries traditions, the less crime we will be? Will we be a more moral country?

I have never or will ever try to push "there is no god" on any one, nor will i ever judge anyone becasue they belive in a higher power. I dont want to move to Cuba, its more humid there than here and i wouldnt be able to snow ski. Just because one refuses to pledge to god doesnt make one not patriotic. Wear a helmet and get some jellooooooooooooooooooooo. The whole argument is that if you cant put a tablet with the 10 commandments in front of a school, then you cant require kids to recite a pledge that uses words influenced by a religious group. I really dont give a fuck because i dont go to school anymore. Its just another stupid suit over double standards. I think the next one will be that boys and girls will ahve to wear the same uniforms... i think the guys want to wear skirts too
supldys
The largest disaster relief besides the red cross in this country are religious organiztions. I think saving someones life is quite influential, are you going to try and make that unconstitutional too, because you dont have the same belief as them? Recite the pledge, if the kid truly dosent want to say under god, then dont say it, but dont force ALL children to have less respect for the pledge to their country. desperado
Here's the way it needs to be One nation Under God, and if you don't like it get the fuck out. Douchebag fucks. People fought and died for these ideals, fuck you for stepping on them. Chris, I am not calling anyone communist, but here is their agenda. 1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. 2. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the U.S. would be a demonstration of moral strength. 3. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. 4. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of communist domination. 6. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the United Nations. 7. Promote the United Nations as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. 8. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. 9. Do away with loyalty oaths. 10. Capture one or both of the political parties in the U.S. 11. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. 12. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Get control of the teachers associations. 13. Gain control of all student newspapers. 14. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions. 15. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures. 16. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them censorship and a violation of free speech and free press. 17. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures and TV. 18. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as normal, natural and healthy. 19. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a religious crutch. 20. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principles of separation of church and state. 21. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. 22. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the grounds that it was only a minor part in the big picture. (Morals!!) 23. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the communist apparatus. 24. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. 25. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. 26. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. 27. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American traditions; that students and special interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political and social problems.
