Guest chrisferguson
Since Windsor is an hour and a half away from school, some buddies from home and I are going up there Sept 30-Oct 1 Anyone been there? Good places to go to? (Bars/Casinos/Cheetahs??) And actually, we don't know an address to mapquest to get there. I mapquested from my school to just Windsor. I dont know an actual address to use to get to the main casino and find a hotel around there. We dont plan on being in the hotel AT ALL, except to sleep a few hours/pass out/ bring some hot chick back. We plan on gambling/drinking the entire time. Can't fucking wait to go with my buddies from back home. Shit is going to be insane. :woowoo: :woowoo:
dragknee66
I made a nice review about Windsor here before I believe. Basically... If your OVER 21... stay here in the states and dont waste your time. Chicks there are hot sure, but theyre the usual "Im 18 dont touch me, dont dance with me, back off". The booze is WATERED DOWN.. I shit you not, its watered down. Me and Rigsby spend about $200 EACH the night we went, and we werent even wasted. We downed shot after shot after shot and it literally had no effect on us at all. Theres plenty of places to go, but you'll still run into a bunch of stupid acting under aged kids from the states.
AngryBMW
Try and stay at the Travel Lodge in Windsor. It is a short walk to the Casino, and is only like 85 bucks for the night. The parking there sucks, so park in the Casino parking garage and walk to the hotel. Right behind the Travel Lodge is one of the best bars ever called Ryan O'Malleys...definently check that place out! DO NOT GO TO CHEETA'S. It is a serious waste of time. Way to packed, and you will wait an hour for a seat. If you want to go to a strip club, I would suggest Leopards. Any cabby will know how to get there, and they do not charge a cover. The girls are very attractive, and you will have a good time The casino is awsome. If you have the cash, they now have a poker room (hold 'em), but the tables are 3-5 dollars if I remember correctly. I would stay at either the black jack tables or roulette. A little word to the wise; make sure your gas tank has enough to get you there and back. Filling up in Canada last year cost me 40 bucks...it was like 2.50 for a liter of gas! Good luck -Marc
Buckeye1647545503
marc we need to get a group together to go. I would love to go for my birthday Oct7. what do you think?
Dr. Pomade
I went to Casino Windsor about three weeks ago. It indeed has a poker room - very nice, and well run. Plenty of games to choose from, including a 1-2 no limit table (i.e., blinds were $1 and $2). So, not too expensive. Here's the best advice I can think to give right now: TAKE YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND/OR A VALID PASSPORT. Jessica and I got haggled going into Canada because we only had our driver's licenses. That was the easy part. On the way back in to the U.S., we got held up at customs for about one hour. No fucking lie - they made us pull over, searched our car, and then made us wait in this little holding area, and then gave us no explanation as to why. And we got off easy - there were people there that had been waiting like 8 hours to be released, and some other people were being made to either stay there or return to Canada. Seriously, the border patrol folks there were real dicks - and that's not something that I say lightly. Don't risk it - just take your birth certificate or a passport. If you don't have either, then I wouldn't bother going into Windsor.
martindc1
I stayed at a Hotel on the strip that had a built in parking garage on my 19th. I think it was a Red Roof Inn. We went to Club Extasy which was a purple place and the bouncer looked like Mr. Perfect. He asked me what day it was and I told him it was March 19th and he scratched his head and was like "Yeah you can come in then." There is an awesome steak place called something like "Ye Olde Tavern" or something. During the days go to the off-strip places to get good beer for cheaper, then go to the places on the strip when you have a good base started. And don't be stupid and say "eh?" all the time because it is a good way to get jumped and/or look like dumb Americans and not get laid. OSUGT
It's been about 7 years since I was last there. I remember a place called "Jason's" was pretty cool. My brother and his buddy went slumpbusting and picked up 2 fat girls, brought them back to the hotel with them. I got thumped around by a couple bouncers for being a buckeye fan, went back to the hotel, couldnt sleep listening to the fat girls, got up, passed out in the bathtub, and woke up looking at one of the fat girls on the john. Windsor doesnt hold a special place in my heart. The biggest thing to remember is that you are NOT a citizen over there. Dont get wasted and do something stupid. You dont have the same rights, and Canadians will taunt you. Have fun...be safe. Late
Crash1647545504
Windsor sucks. Minnus the gambling, I can get just as drunk here at most any bar, and be with more of my friends. Windsor is a waste of money for the conviniance of being able to get alcohol on demand, and gamble. The Poker games were good there though, as Tilly said. Fiji ST
Million Dollar Saloon is the better strip club up there. As for bars, there are plenty of them. Voodoo, Peppers, etc. They are all concentrated on one street from basically the tunnels to the waterfront. So you have a nice choice. The casino is fun, but if it's busy, you will be waiting to play most card games, especially Hold 'em. Windsor is a fun town, but be careful. It can become a real sausagefest on busy weekends. JaSSon
If you just want to get drunk for cheap, forget the strip. Go deeper into windsor, beyond the tourist trap strip. I went there when I was at UT. the 1st night we stayed at the hilton and bounced around bars and clubs. The 2nb night we drove deeper into windsor and stayed at the ABC Motel. It was $40 Canadian a night, and suprisingly not too ghetto. We walked to an AWESOME sportsbar that had like 6 pool tables and a really nice lodge/wood cabin like atmoshpere. And drinks were cheap. I was getting tall beers (local canadian brewery, don't remember the name of the beer) for $2.50 canadian. +1 for what john said. We got right through customs both times because we all had out ID's and birth certificates. Do NOT try to bring ANY alochol back across the border. I'm not sure if it's tehnically illegal, but if you get searched and they find hidden alochol, be ready for a customs headach. Edit: Oh yeah, Peppers is good too. We went there for lunch after we arrived in windsor. Good food, reasonable drinks.

BloodRed
really don't need the address. Once you go across the bridge or tunnel there are signs all over the place for it. Just follow them.

Dr. Pomade
Yeah, fairly easy - take 23 N to 75 N into Toledo. From there, just follow the signs into Detroit. When you get to Detroit, follow the signs to Canada. Once in Canada, follow all the signs to Casino Windsor.

Tulo
Can you use American currency in Canada? If not, how do you go about getting Canadian money?
evan9381
million dollar saloon was a hell of a lot of fun when we were there this winter (weekend of that huge blizzard, when the detroit intl auto show was goin on) you can spend american money, and some places will make it seem like youre gettin a deal, caus they give you 20% off (b/c of the exchange rate). when yuo get thru border patrol, theres a little staton you can exchange money at if you want to go that route
martindc1
When I was there the Casino had the best exchange rate, but it was also the best way to lose money. I talked to several "business" types who went to the Casinao for the purpose of exchanging money and after 10 hours of blackjack were still there, no joke. This was before the huge Texas Hold'em craze so it is probably even worse.
Dr. Pomade
Can you use American currency in Canada? If not, how do you go about getting Canadian money? Yes, you can use it, if the particular place accepts it. Usually, though, you'll just go to a currency exchange place (they are conveniently placed in a lot of spots), give them U.S. currency, and then profit - as the exchange rate favors us, we get about 33 cents on every dollar exchanged (e.g., you give them one U.S. dollar, they hand you back $1.33 in Canadian money). The downside is when you go to leave and exchange your Canadian money for U.S. money - then they take back that 33 cents on every dollar that you earned going when exchanging your currency initially. evan9381
when i went, i gave them 100$, and got a little less than 120..i think it was 117 and some change. exchange rates change daily, and if youre lucky, you can sometimes make money by exchanging it and then doing it again
