Yeah damn stock 4 bangers put that out to the wheels. For that $, a built motor and a single turbo would net you 650-700whp on PUMP gas.

 

Stock LS7 > stock 4 banger

 

Therefore

 

Modified LS7 > modified 4 banger

 

650-700whp can be had from just about any motor for a certain dollar figure, 4 cylinders ARE NOT superior to anything.

I was referring to a 350, mod motor, whatever you like, not a 4 banger shit stain.

Also forgot the dry-sump oil system; pretty useless to drag racers, a big-deal items to those making lots of turns.

 

Dry Sump is used on most any max effort engine actually, while it ain't gonna do much for a 11 sec bracket car that turns 7000 RPM, the guys in the top drag levels, fuel, funny, prostock, pro mod and even the 8 sec guys are all pretty much doing the drysump thing. Big reason is even the 8 sec guys are turning small blocks in excess of 9500 and the extra oil (tank is typically 10 quart) run in them to not only cut windage, but to ensure ample oil supply and pressure at the staggering RPM they spin the motors at. Roundy rounders run them too of course, as do most of the track cars, for the reasons you indicated.
