buelliganx1
That thing was up at the detroit autorama this year, pretty cool but I think calling it street legal is a stretch unless it still has the stock engine and drivetrain in it. coty061885
It says right in the article that it still has the stock engine. I can't imagine where he'd use the jet engine on the street, but I'd like to see it.
potentn2o
Looks like it draws it's air from inside the cabin. Would be pretty cool to see it run with all the windows up. Wonder if it has the testicles to suck the roof and the doors in on itself? Never seen a Beetle implode.

El Karacho1647545492
i really really wanna call BS on it...but i dunno is it possible to make a chopper engine into a jet engine???
Nitrousbird
I'd have to think a short wheelbase car like that isn't exactly the best platform for a jet-engine. And similar stuff has been done before, and posted on here no less. So that guy can stop claiming he is the first; perhaps the first w/ a New Beetle, and for good reason! Lustalbert
I am curious. Is he using the expeled gasses for thrust, or does he have an actual transmission delivering power to the rear wheels? 1300HP and a gear box to the rears would be the roxors
coty061885
Jet engines don't use gearboxes, it's just the thrust of the gasses moving the car/plane/helicopter.

True this car uses thrust from the engine, but he could run a transmission of the accessory drive box like the chrysler turbine cars in the 50's and 60's. Oh and helicopters and tanks do the same thing.
coty061885
True, but Lustalbert was asking about this car. Those Chrysler Turbine cars are pretty sweet, though.

I understand that I was just pointing this out. Also I picked up a mopar magazine last year sometime and discovered that they had more than just the turbine cars that everyone pictures when they think of chrysler turbine cars. They even had a large U-haul size truck that if I remember right used 2 turbines.
Guest Cougar_55555
Chrysler also designed and built the M1A1 tank.
