My dad's a former Marine of 22 years (Vietnam vet). When I turned 18, he took me to the post office to get a registration form to fill out for Selective Service. I guess in his mind it's one of those things you do when you become a man. I highly doubt the draft is coming back. It would have to be a major catastrophe in order for them to call us.

I wonder what me, a programmer, could do. Maybe they would put me under Cyberdyne so I can program the T-800s. That would be sweet. I would put special instructions into it so that when it hears that "Tequilla" song, it would automatically start dancing like Pee-Wee Herman.

They are not re-instating the draft, you tard. It's been a long-time requirement to have your SS number on file in order to receive higher-education.

That has been a requirement for decades....

For more than 50 years, Selective Service and the registration requirement for America's young men have served as a backup system to provide manpower to the U.S. Armed Forces.

President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 which created the country's first peacetime draft and formally established the Selective Service System as an independent Federal agency.

From 1948 until 1973, during both peacetime and periods of conflict, men were drafted to fill vacancies in the armed forces which could not be filled through voluntary means.

In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All-Volunteer military.

The registration requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis.

The obligation of a man to register is imposed by the Military Selective Service Act. The Act establishes and governs the operations of the Selective Service System.

Next to the "Man Code" thread, this one fights for your worst. LOL

I already registered... when I was 18... I'm not fat... not by far... dumbass...

The "Guy Code" thread was fucking hillarious for several reasons:

A) It was true

B) It made a DBS cry

C) The people involved make me LOL

D) I laughed for weeks over that thread

I don't care what you think of the president, I don't care what you think of the war, but when you come to this country, you better obey the laws, or just GTFO, what makes you special over a natural born citizen?
