Local celebrity Johnny DiLoretto will be broadcasting live from Columbus Motor Speedway Friday morning, June 8. The News Center 6, Fox 28 personality will be involved in several different activities at the third-mile oval including actually driving a Legend Race Car. Starting at 7:10AM Friday morning and continuing through 9:45AM, DiLoretto will be covering a host of topics. Amongst them will be:

* Introduction to the Columbus Motor Speedway in the midst of its 60th consecutive season of operation.

A tour and description of an 800HP Winged Sprint Car driven by high school Senior, Tom Tolbert. Tolbert will be competing in the Winged Aprints on Asphalt race Saturday June 9.

A quarter midget demonstration. The pint sized race cars piloted by children aged 5 though 15 compete on a 20th mile track located on the grounds of the Obetz oval.

A demonstration of a Loose Caboose race scheduled for Saturday June 16. The exciting event pits teams of cars chained together racing around the third-mile paved oval. The rub is that the front vehicle has an engine but no brakes while the rear vehicle has no engine but does have brakes.

Legend Cars are 5/8 scale replicas of the coupes and sedans that competed here in the '50's and 60's. Johnny will be strapped in and with little, or no, instruction will test his racing skills.

DiLoretto is described on the WSYX web site thusly:

DiLoretto hails from Dean Martin's hometown of Steubenville, Ohio. Very little is actually known about Johnny. We do know that he studied Film and English Literature at the Ohio State University and graduated in 1997 having, in his estimation, learned more than everybody else. Cooking, reading, and doing crosswords used to bring Johnny a great deal of personal satisfaction before he had to selflessly sacrifice all of his free time for his wife and baby. The rest is a mystery...
