OhioHondas.com members have organized a D-Series Quick 8 class for Import Face-Off on August 26th at National Trail Raceway. This class will have a "Jackpot" prize, meaning 100% of the entry fees for the D-Series class will go to payouts for 1st and 2nd place. If any other groups would like to organize a specific class (ex. 4g63 class, VW class, etc), please email hybridentertainment78@yahoo.com for suggestions.

COMPETITION DRAG CLASSES AND PAYOUTS so far...

FWD Quick 8 $1000 (FWD 4 cyl only, slicks and open exhaust OK)

Street Class Quick 8 $800 (4/6 cyl, or rotary only, DOT tires and muffler required)

All Motor Quick 4 $400 (4/6 cyl or rotary, n/a engines only, slicks & open exhaust OK)

D-Series Quick 8 "jackpot" (FWD 4 cyl D-series Hondas only, DOT tires, open exhaust OK)

Bracket 14.99 and Faster $200 (any import or sport compact)

Bracket 15.00 and Slower $200 (any import or sport compact)

Motorcycle Bracket $100 (any motorcycle of import origin)

*full fields required for full payout. Full = 8 cars for Quick 8 classes, 4 cars for Quick 4 classes.

Prices for the event are $20 for test and tune racer (open to any make/model), $30 for competition racer, and $15 for spectators ($13 with flier coupon). It's an Import event and racers get tons of passes. Even after eliminated, you can still run test and tune. Info on http://www.ImportFaceOff.net *to be updated with the Columbus specifics soon.

Hopefully the import racers with serious cars will actually COMPETE this time instead of pussing out to run TnT... it's so annoying to see chicken shit drivers running 11s and 12s, only to run Test and Tune. Any imports running low 12s or faster, ENTER ONE OF THE HEADS UP CLASSES. Winners are always paid in CASH at the end of the show.

We also need help passing out fliers. If anyone would like to help, please email your name and mailing address to hybridentertainment78@yahoo.com. Promoters are assigned a number and are paid on commission, $2 for every flier that comes in with your number on it. Spectators bring in the fliers because of the $2 off admission coupon. Checks are mailed out within a week after the event. The program pays out well if you get the flyers out. There are successful, repeat IFO promoters every year at every location. Here is what the flier looks like...

bump for the Face-Off!

For those attending, please step up and participate, don't just watch. The scene needs more racers and less ricers.

For those who have never raced before, read paragraph 1. For cars running 13.00 seconds or slower, read paragraph 2. For cars running 12.99 or faster, read paragraph 3.

1) Purchase your race tech card at the front gate ($20). Tell the cashiers you want to race Test and Tune, not competition, since this is your first time. Test and Tune racing is open to all make/model vehicles. Listen for the track announcer to call for tech inspection and go where he says tech-in will be. The tech inspector will give you an info pamphlet that tells you what lane to stage up in.

2) For imports or sport compacts running 13.00 seconds or slower, purchase a COMPETITION class card at the front gate, not a test and tune tech card. Test and Tune is for the drag noobs or p*ssies too scared to compete. Competition race entry costs $30, only $10 more than test and tune, but you'll be competing for hundreds in cash payouts. Competition racers can still run test and tune between time trails and even between eliminations, just pull into one of the test and tune staging lanes any time of the day. During tech-in, the tech inspector will ask you which class you'll be racing in, pick either Bracket 14.99 and faster, or Bracket 15.00 and slower, which ever your car runs the 1/4 mile in. Bracket racing, or handicap racing, works as follows…Practice runs are made in order to get a feel for how fast the car/bike will run. For example: say you make three runs and they average 12.50 seconds. You may choose that as your dial in time and shoe polish that time on your window. You will be paired against another vehicle, faster or slower. The slower vehicle gets a head start determined by the dial in time. Say the other vehicle dials in at 13.00…he'll get a .50 second head start. The object is to beat your opponent to the finish line without going quicker than your dial in time. If you "break out", or go quicker than your dial in, you lose, unless your opponent breaks out worse than you, red-lights (goes before the light turns green), or crosses the center, divide line. Bracket racing pits driver against driver, with little regard for how fast the car or bike is.

3) For imports and sport compacts running 12.99 or faster, purchase a COMPETITION class tech card at the front gate, not a test and tune card. During tech-in, the tech inspector will ask you which class you'll be racing in, pick either of the HEADS UP classes, not Bracket. The bracket classes are for slower cars, so don't waste your fast car on a small payout. Pick one of the 3 heads up classes: FWD Quick 8, Street Quick 8, or All Motor Quick 4 (class regulations below). The heads up class entry fee costs the same as Bracket ($30), yet payouts are 5Xs higher than bracket and pay more places (1st to 4th in FWDQ8). Even if you don't qualify, you can still run one of the brackets, or unlimited TnT all day. You will most likely qualify though. The Ohio Import Face-Off heads up classes have not been full the past two years in a row. Win one round and you're "in the money".

FWD Quick 8 = FWD 4 cyl only, slicks and open exhaust OK

Street Class Quick 8 = FWD, RWD, or AWD 4/6 cyl or rotary only, DOT tires and muffler required

All Motor Quick 4 = FWD, RWD, or AWD 4/6 cyl or rotary, n/a engines only, slicks OK for FWD only, open exhaust OK

then go buy a helmet. The track may have loaners though.

Sunday forecast is much cooler... low of 61, high of 82 per weather.com

Every heads up field is looking to be complete, so should be full of 10 to 12 second cars. Couple of 8 second DSMs coming down to do exhibition passes too!

Never raced in competitions before, would there be a point for me to do anything besides test and tune? Can I actually win something running 12's? From what I read these arent handicap races, correct?

A few of us from ohioriders are coming. We're rolling out at 11a from the east side. Let me know if you want to meet up with us. We'll be making a stop for race gas at the gas station by the track. Its cheaper out there than here in town.
