Janszen
The clutch went out so we took it apart and i wasn't expecting this. Is this even possible because i only have around 2k on it. http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4726/dsc01144yw1.jpg http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/9646/dsc01145mh8.jpg http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7839/dsc01146dv1.jpg http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/4096/dsc01156dk1.jpg
Farkas
that's why you don't buy shitty ebay clutches,.. and next time resurface your pressure plate.
rl
that's why you don't buy shitty ebay clutches,.. and next time resurface your pressure plate. I think you meant to say re-surface the Flywheel, and that looks like a spec clutch. There had to have been a build problem with the clutch, call spec and I bet they will fix you up. Patrick
There had to have been a build problem with the clutch, call spec and I bet they will fix you up. That's exactly what I said to martin when he told me what happened.
Janszen
yeah i called spec they said i need a receipt and has to be with in 120 days of purchase. Also i bought the car with the clutch in but still theres only 2k on it. and yeah im pretty sure they dont have a un-branded clutch and why would i even buy that.... also you cant resurface the pressure plate... 2pointslow
deff looks like a spec!
rl
Then just order a new disk from them, it should be more than $120 or so. The pressure plate got hot on one side which is strange, I would check the throwout bearing and all the mating surfaces for the pressure plate very close. I would also have the flywheel machined. Janszen
i didnt know that they just sold the disks and i might try to stay away from spec because on the mr2 board alot of people have said bad things about them
2pointslow
hmm might be the drivers??? I have honestly never heard one bad thing about a spec clutch!

JaSSon
I've heard (2nd hand mostly) of a lot of people having trouble with spec clutches. I know they tend to explode on the f-body guys. I've heard of a lot of the mustang guys ending up with clutch chatter and some reliability problems. I'd say if they don't replace it under warranty you should look elsewhere. Farkas
I think you meant to say re-surface the Flywheel Judging from the friction surface of his pressure plate it looks to be a bit warped.. which would indicate it needs to be resurfaced.. but it's smart to resurface both pressure plate and flywheel if possible. I didn't have it done on my own car or anything.. act ftw ACT is garbage too.. horrible chatter with almost all of them.
1qwk767
i love my act2600 in my dsm no chatter at all
stolen 5.0
the spec stage 3 clutch was the best clutch I've ever had. stock, autozone, king cobra, centerforce. spec held the power all night long.

Crossle
I like sach's, grabbier than OE, but OE reliability at a good price. A lot of porsche guys use Sachs Good for your application Janszen, since your stock.
Martin
those burn marks on the pressure plate is from seans boss forcing the the car in gear when we had no clutch pressure.
Crossle
In his defense, not necessarily. Possible, but it could be anything, unless he told you specifically that it is his fault. It takes an aweful lot of abuse to get heat spots like that. Just my .02 in his defense since he isn't on here.
