what does everyone think this is worth? i have 20k or more in receipts just in parts. Full DSE front and rear suspension, LS1/T56, 4th gen dash and front seats. big wheels and brakes all the way around. just kinda wondering, i have a scrach i just can't get rid of and thought about selling it to buy what i want. i may even be able to trade for it depending on what my car is worth.

"ill give you $500.00 cash, tonight? and a hooker"

not my quote but it also works here. PM me if you like it. :)

wow you just want to give me $500 to sleep with a hooker that you supply? awesome. if you had a MN6 C6 then i would PM you.

i know when its done, after paint and new interior and what not it will be worth 55-72k based on what other cars like mine are going for. i have yet to see one with a 4th gen dash for sale so i don't know if that will add anything more to it or not.

Here is the thing with 1st gen cars.

1st off is it an X car? X11's and X22's are worth more than other vins.

2nd is going to be is it a "tuner" car or a restoration. Obviously this is a tuner car so now it changes the value.

I have seen some really nice tuner cars and most of the really well done LSX 1st gens (im talking mirrors under the car and you can eat off the bottom of the car) have been going for 30-45k complete.

I don't know where you are in your car yet; however, that is what I want to build at some point (or buy complete). I have the opportunity to buy a completely restored and all factory origional 67 RS car with low miles for $23,500 locally. I haven't done it because I want to put an LSX in the car and cannot see doing that to the origional numbers matching car.

I had a friend sell a 69 X car recently for only 10k! I wish he had called me cause I would have bought it, but this was a solid car no rust good paint and with a 454 built just needing motor assembly and installation.

It really sucks, but unless the car is complete and flawless you are going to be pushing it to get over $25k and incomplete you won't see more than maybe $15k if you find that perfect buyer. This is all pending that it is a desirable vin.

Good luck on your project, I envy you being able to spend that kind of money and time on such a wonderful car and a great piece of American Heritage. 1st Gen Tuner cars are AWESOME completed. I have considered and wanted one for some time now. I have toyed with the idea of ordering a Foose Resto Tuner car for about a year now.

Good luck and Post some pics!

non X car, i may be wrong but 69 was the only year for X codes.

what i am doing with my car just hasn't been seen much around here yet. its huge on the west coast and slowly making its way here. i've seen cars that weren't running yet go for 35k so i know i'm close to that since it does drive.

if you guys are finding 30-45k cars that are perfect you better grab as many as you can, cars like mine are pulling high 50's -70k and if they have someones name attached to them like rad rides by troy, boyd, DSE (they don't even have to build it as long as they do something on the car then it counts) those cars are well in the 125k marks.

here is a 40k roller http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35455

here is a car with less done to it than mine but still nice http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D140161650831%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=140161650831

i agree with atomic

the market is pretty soft right now...is why i'd agree

there's lots of old retirees dying and flooding ebay with nice cars

meanwhile, less and less demand for the old hotrods

lets hear what's done to yours to make it equal or nicer than that 70 k car with a merlin block/TKO600 (both superior to the LS1 t56 IMO)

The engine in that car probably ran him a fortune...and the TKO is around 2100 alone

yours still needs 10k in body/paint? (at least?)

is it running, chrome done interior - etc?

I haven't heard the details on your build

AJ the first car that you posted up for a value reff didn't even sell, all he got was lowballed. The second car was unreal, that had to have about 25k in the motor alone, hell just the block is 2K.

I am not trying to be a dick but your LS1 with trans could be had for about 3K.

I have not seen your skills but that second car was professionally built. Now alot of the best cars are built in backyards and home garages like yours, but they are few and far between.

Now with all that said you are asking us to put a value on the price of your car without seeing the car either in person or pictures we can not even close to put a valve on it without seeing the craftsmanship because that is the biggest factor in these restored and tuned cars.

For the RIGHT buyer the car could bring 100K, say the shell was his original car he took to prom with his gf/now wife that recently tragically died of cancer. He is a partner in microsoft and has a few billion dollars in his name. He would pay whatever it took to get that car back for a remembrance of the good old days with his wife.

Hence why I suggested put it in barret jackson or hemmings- more likely to find that RIGHT buyer than on columbus racing/ebay/autotrader/racing junk.

If you can be patient and do not need the money at all for 5 years or so you could probably pull it off.

I just feel the average car enthusiast would rather buy a brand new z06 corvette with a 100K mile warranty and though depreciating some sort of predictable trade-in value after a few years for 75,000.00.

I am in a similar boat to you. I have a fortune sunk into my 5.0 mustang and it is killing me to face the reality that I will not recover that money when I sell it- I want a z06 corvette so bad it is sickening but may keep the fox so I don't take such a hit- true you are a certified mechanic which helps but most people are afraid of custom/modified cars. When I bought my coupe I was looking for one that had modifications of flowmaster mufflers at the most.

I wouldn't trust the average guy to install valve stem caps on my car let alone install a supercharger or worse heads/cam/intake himself without knowing his background/experiences. We all know @!#$ can happen in these shade tree projects.

Thus as performance parts depreciate very slowly themselves, guys are forced to part out AWESOME cars to recover their investments.

As a car enthusiast and a columbus racing member I really hope you do bring the big numbers in on that car!

One thing that may change the market though is that I really suggest you sell this before the sub 30K 2009 Camaros come out.

pretty neat project, and looks reasonably well done

I'm not sure how i feel about that newer dash. I guess it depends on how clean you make it look. I like the old look with new technology..and i think most other do: but at least yours is a bit different

even so - those 70k cars have 5k in the interior, 10k in paint and 5k in chrome/accessories to make them 70k cars (not even thinking about billet accessories - powdercoating the frame and lots of other extras)

so, maybe you're up to 30 or 40k :)

neat car

the thing about the new camaros comming out will only make my car worth more.

Clay, you would have to see the dash in person to get a real feel for it, everyone thats seen it so far things its sick. those pictures don't really give you everything.
