BloodRed

Recommended Posts

In case anyone is interested, I got an email from Pick-n-Pull today saying that they are having a half price sale on everything from Wednesday through Sunday November 21-25. My cousin-in-law and I may head down on Friday since we both have the day off work to see what we can pick up.

Anyone been down there recently? Seen any 93 and newer Thunderbirds or Cougars? Any Lincoln Mark 8's at all? I need front spindles and endlinks.

In fact, if anyone can grab these for me, I'll give you $75 for them. :) As it is right now, I'm at the mercy of a joint in St Louis, AND I have to ship.

The 1993+ part is vital. If you're interested, I'll show you how to tell the difference with pics in a PM, it's easy.

there was a 95 firebird there

ERIC i may be able to .. give me a line up

I'm actually going to be in town thursday-sunday, I might be able to go with ya. My schedule is a bit full of family events.

Thunderbirds are easy, Cougars are not (didn't change much from 91 to 95, will need to check the door sticker).

The spindle difference is simple and obvious:

In most cases, you should be able to peek through the wheel and see. The older ones have cast iron bits (as part of the spindle) that work as a brake pad braket. Later models went with a mustang-like caliber arrangement.

Thunderbirds from 89 to 92 will have either of these two noses, AND a thin plastic strip down the door:

After that, the second ugly nose went away, and the door strips got wider and became painted.

The SCs stayed pretty much unchanged from 89 to 93, you'll have to look in the wheels or check the door sticker.

The differences got more obvious after that, the nose will do. 94-95:

96-97

96-97 Cougar, the grill is round, as opposed to the old trapazoids:

Door stickers will have the production date. Keep in mind, XXXX model year cars becan production the fall before.

Any and every Lincoln Mark 8 will work, and I need rear suspension stuff from them as well. :)

Addendum: I'm going to try and get down there thurdsay or friday morning, anyone else going to be there?

Correct me if I'm wrong:

-I show up with tools, pay $1 to get in, and get my own damn parts?

Do they take any payment other than cash?

I may be down there Friday morning depending on what my cousin-in-law is up to. Yep bring your tools, pay $1 to get in, and pull your own parts. They take cash, check, and CC's. Prices on parts are on the wall to the right by the door you walk out of to go into the yard.

ATTN ALL, MAKE MONEYZ:

I just got back, I ran out of time a tools. I managed to get only Drivers side hardware.

Because I didn't have the right tools, I had to buy the upper control arm, too. Even so, both parts only set me back $20.95.

I need the passenger side spindle, and I've done almost all the work. I'll pay $40 for it.

The car is a green cougar toward the back of the ford section, it is facing a white lincoln town car. I've gotten almost everything off but the upper and lower control arms. If you can get it loose from those, you'll pay less than $20 for the part, and you'll sell it for $40. :) If that one gives you trouble, you can pull the passenger side spindle from any thunderbird or Cougar that they have, except for one. Luckily, the one that wont work still has all of its wheels on, so it's easy to spot and easier to avoid.

I'm in town until sunday, so if anyone can get this part I will be extremely greatfull!!

Edit: This should require a 18mm and a 24mm combination wrench, as well as a torque multiplier bar....I just used another comb wrench. I picked this car because it was already mostly pulled apart.

Also, this is a 4.6 V8 car, so if you wanted one of those "Mark 8 electric fans", this has one. It also has a 4R70W transmission, if you're looking for one to build.
