I think you'll see a few of the weaker dealers fade away. Jeffrey Posted November 29, 2007 Report Share Posted November 29, 2007 I've talked to people that come here during Sturgis just to work on bikes and they said they make ungodly amounts of money just in those 2 weeks that sometimes they don't have to work the rest of the year. 95% of those bikes are Harleys so go figure. You must not know anything about motorcycles. Buells suck bad. Worst service of any motorcycle company. Worst reliability of any motorcycle company other than Harley. The sound Harleys make is the reason they're still around. I think the problem with Harley's is the whole air-cooled thing. Yes, some other companies can pull it off like Triumph. But Harleys.... no. How many times have you seen a Harley rider sitting on the side of the freeway or highway letting their bike cool down? Hell, their only water-cooled bike is the Vrod, and they didn't design it. Porsche did. A buddy of mine has a Sportster 883. He loved it at first, until he started having problems with it not starting. If the bike is hot, it won't start. Sounds like old school lawnmower engine technology if you ask me. He's had several bike mechanics look at it and all tell him, "oh yeah, this happens all the time with Harleys". Now I'm not saying they are all good every bike/car company has its lemons. My friend has a Harley with over 20k miles on it and doesn't have one problem with it. I dont know how many times i have waved and a group or single rider and they pay me no attention just becaseu i ride a Jap bike. I mean come on we all enjoy riding so lets make it a friendly community and at least wave at each other. Dont get me wrong plety of Harley guys dont care but it seems around ehre they are few a far between. I have also been told i cant ride with the "Harley" group because i cant ride well enough!? I would like to see some bearded fat old man turn in on some twisties with his Hog compared to me. I have to agree on this one, the Nostalgia isn't lasting. People can't be stupid with their money like they could in mid nineties. The sound Harleys make is the reason they're still around. i was more referring to buell chassis/handling wise. most everyone i've talked to claims they handle amazing. their bikes are really nicely designed, except for the motor, but thats supposed to be changing soon.
