Residential Fiber Optic cabling being installed in my neighborhood

It appears my yard will be suffering some cosmetic damage in the next few days due to new fiber optic cabling being installed throughout my neighborhood. I'm not certain whether this is an upgrade they are doing for the city or if it may be a group of products which they will be offering to us as residents. Anyone else had any work done like this recently? Just keeping my fingers crossed they don't end up tearing up my driveway entrance.

Just make sure you don't ever damage that stuff, depending on how much information goes through it the fines can be in the millions after only a few hours

You mean if you dig a hole and cut one.....they can fine you the cost lost by companies.?

How do you work for Verizon FiOS? Fios isn't being deployed anywhere in central, ohio.

ATT may be laying Fiber for U-Verse.

Probably a call center, verizon outsources.... I know lie-tech(calltech/teleperformance) just picked up doing verizons fios support.

pretty much, some decent sized contractors have gone under becuase they can't pay the fines including using all possible insurance.

So if your just a homeowner you are basically fucked

Calltech, that name brings back nightmares... I have a co-worker that is working there part time and is being trained on the Verizon FIOS project.

Pics from before, during and the aftermath of the project. (I resized these in photobucket, so not sure why they're taking forever to save)

I believe that it's AT&T that owns the fiber, but they had some 3rd party company do the "work", so outside of catching them while they're in the neighborhood, not too sure what my options are. My guess is that once the weather breaks, they should come back to do a final grade and seed the area. SHOULD being the key word there.
