need someone swap engine 2004 ranger

my buddy blew the motor in his truck. he thought he was getting a good deal from his dads friend for 3k for an engine and install. i told him id check around first, because i know it can be done cheaper

 

ive found a few engines for 750-850$, i just need to find someone that can install it

Need details on the Ranger. Is it a v-6 or a 4 cyl, 4wd or 2wd, auto or manual?

sorry. v6, auto (about 98% sure), and i think its 2wd. ill check with him to be sure. i tried to call him, and got no answer.
