New tires?

When i picked up the camaro it came with a set of cooper cobra gt's on it. Tread wise they are almost new. When its dry they ride real nice, but in the rain or any other kind of weather so far it feels like im riding around on skateboard wheels. I'm thinking about trying some other tires, any suggestions? 235x55x16

Go with 245/50/16 to begin with. Same height, lower profile. That was OEM size for the V8 cars with 16s.
