evan9381
is there a way to hook up my TV so it acts as a monitor for my computer, possibly even getting sound to come through? i won't be using it for games, i'm just bored and thought i'd see if it was possible. i guess the cord would need to stretch ~16 feet or so. the computer is a compaq presario M2000 and the TV is a mitsubishi WD-60735
thorne
HDMI . You can get a DVI to HDMI Cable. This is the only way to get TRUE 1920x1080 res. You can do Svideo but it will look Bleeeeeehk. I looked up the Model tv and made no mention to have a VGA Connector ( Some do mine does) The PC needs to have DVI and you can buy a cable to convert DVI to HDMI. OR if its a PC you want to dedicate to your tv you can get video cards with hdmi.

HAOLE
The Tv should have a VGA type input. You should just be able to plug right in. This is what I use to run a flat screen at work. http://www.showmecables.com/showProducts.asp?category_id=

evan9381
edit - no VGA on the tv. my dad finally called me back and said i should be able to get a VGA to RGB pretty cheap, then run RCA cables to the tv. he said there are HDMI converter boxes available, but to go VGA --> HDMI the box would be a couple hundred bucks this all sound right? going off memory of what he said

thorne
I've never had a VGA to RGB sync right on my old tv but cool if it works. If your just watching movies buy a cheap SVIDEO and be done with it cost you 20$ max
