Issue 6 is to legalize a $600 million resort casino in Clinton County Ohio. The tax revenues will be shared with all 88 counties based on their population. This project will employ thousands to construct the facility. It will employ up to 5,000 jobs when it opens at an average pay of $34,000 plus benefits. So, where can we find information on the bill to read for ourselves? Anyone got a quick link? I will try to dig up the links. The anti commercials are being paid by Argosy believe it or not. The law allows for one casino for now but splits the tax money with all counties in Ohio. The only casinos anywhere which are tax exempt are Indian ones. Well there is no Federally registered tribes in Ohio nor any land registered for Indians/use. I will not vote to amend our constitution for something as trivial as a casino because one amended it's nearly impossible to repeal. It's the equivalent of a law "nuclear option". Again, I question why this matters. The fact is, they shouldn't be able to tell us that we cannot have a casino. On a side note, the county it is in (clinton) is almost completely based around a huge DHL warehouse that is about to close, which will basically ruin the area. So if you really do care about this bill in regards to helping the state, well, this county may just need the jobs more than any other. If that happens, they no longer get taxed AT ALL. This issue appears to be a complete mess, and to top it off, fuck constitutional amendments. That should be reserved for things that are huge, not dumb shit like this. If someone wants to come up with a clean proposal that doesn't give the option of fucking the state in the end, then I would have no problem with casino's here, but I honestly don't think that this should be the way to do it.
