Apex Seal Failure

So about a year ago in november my car ended up on the chopping block since the engine decided to die on me. After a compression check the front bounced at 95 on all three faces. The rear however was 80 0 0.

 

I ended up buying another engine and put that into my car. Well, i finally got some time to take it apart and found more damage than what i thought. I had thought maybe i just fractured a seal since i could see the each entire apex still on there through the exhaust

Cool pictures, I find it interesting. Apparently not everyone feels the same.....

 

Educate me a little.....

 

Is there a whole machining process to fix that? Or do you just have to get new rotors and housings? If that was the case is it better just buy a whole new motor? I guess this is a stupid question to those who know a lot about these motors, but I'm curious.

This is my old engine i have another small bridge port in the car right now.

 

You cannot just throw in a set of rotors at all, they need to be the same weight rotors. Rotor housings need to within spec, or just buy a new one. It all depends if the intermediate housing are alright and the end housing if the engine is better to scrap to sell parts or rebuild. It is not too hard to find good used parts.

So I guess what I am asking is...is there any way to save that rotor housing in the picture? Thanks for taking me seriously, doesn't seem to happen very often.
