Guest Removed
best statements ever! Q: Will a main stud girdle help keep the block from breaking? A: Ha, ha, no. All it will is hold all the parts together in a tidy pile. Some of the failures pictured below were equipped with stud girdles putting in a nice set of rods and crank into a factory block is a waste of money because the block will usually fail well before the stock internals will. Just use the stock junk with a good balancing job and then save your money on the aftermarket crank and rods and buy a Dart or R302 block, then stuff that with aftermarket stuff, don't forget to harvest your money tree often. heres some good reading with pics. http://www.theturboforums.com/stockblock.php and just some basic stuff. http://www.theturboforums.com/knowledge.php

ICEMAN1647545504
Gearhead, you are right... It will still split but at least you dont hurt the intake or the oil pan if it does split and it holds most of the parts together if it does... Aftermarket block is the way to go... Aftermarket block is the way to go... wrong again. i have seen them with both girdles, and seen where the block just spilts down the middle to where the crank jus falls out.granted that car was pushing way more then 550hp. ill see if i can dig those pics up! BDHG940
the thing is that if you cannot afford to break it you shouldnt be modding it anyways. I think most of us doing turbo setups know what can happen. look at brians twin setup, he is making over 600 and motor is fine. the more I have been dealing with these turbo setups, I have talked with a lot of people. Several of the people buying are shop owners/tuners and a lot stress that the tune is one of the most important aspects of keeping the motor together. One guy in specific that is doing some of our setups had quite a few cars over 600 and been on the road for years with stock blocks. He swears by just good tuning. Maybe the guy is lucky, maybe its the truth, I dont know but just my .02 from talking with people on this situation
Buckeye1647545503
Explorer motor FTW 1.install Jy motor 2.
