WTB: Car under 10k

As the title says.

 

Looking for a decently quick car with low(er) miles 10k or under in price.

 

Must be reliable. No heavily modded cars as I don't have the patience or time for a project.

 

Basically looking for a good daily I can also enjoy on the weekends. Something my bitches will enjoy.

I was looking for parts for someone but the newer model Tiburons are cheap with low miles. Dont know if that will fit the bill though.

 

I will take the keys to the S4 now......that comment is inexcusable.

For the most part I've been considering Cobalt SS/Redlines. But I wanted to take a look at any other offers and thoughts.

 

All the Audis and the WRX i won't find in my mileage range. I want something under 100k miles preferably.

 

Main problem I've gotten with GTs/F bodies is insurance rates.

 

Test drive some f-bodies and see what you think, you can find one with under 100k miles for 7-9 grand.

 

I've driven a couple f-bodies before. They're fun cars for the most part but I think the insurance would bite me on these too. Considering I would be looking more likely at the V8 versions. Unless anyone is having good luck with these? I am 20 so that bites me but my record is decently clean, just 2 tickets and no accidents.

Heres what I tell everyone about the insurance on f-bodies.. The rates may be higher, but if its not your daily driver you can lower your insurance in the winter. Switch to comprehensive (aka garaged) and pay an extrememly low amount for 3-4 months per year (depending on how long winter lasts). In the end it averages out.

I don't know a ton about insurance. But this car will have to be a daily. I can't afford another car and I need it to get me to work and class.

 

So what would happen pursue if I did that and still drove it?

If you wrecked it you would be SOL. I say go with the cobalt, those handle well in the snow as long as they are not lowered too much.... Which I saw at work one day. Looked like the poor girl was trying to act like a snow plow.

The SS/SC's are nice, but not my cup of tea. The Redlines are amazingly ugly.

Ah. Ya well I'm not huge on lowering anyway. I lowered the accord just cause the gap was hideous but even with that it was a light drop.

 

I'll take a look at the F-bodies and talk to insurance companies. Firebirds always gave me a hard on. So we'll see.

I can appreciate a well done A4/A6 but visually they have never been my own cup of tea. Though I would consider an older S4 just cause of the sleeper factor.

 

Oh and for the record. The lower the mileage the better. My neighbor as an A4 with higher mileage and is always dealing with shit with it. So that kind of turned me off a bit.

I love f-bodies, but not year round in Ohio. I wouldn't mind driving a 3800 car, Grand Prix, Regal, Impala, or the like. There are nice ones out there, can be modded some, and make great daily drivers. Not to mention insurance isn't bad, especially on a 4 door model. Just my 2 cents.

I've looked at GTPs and the liking but I just don't feel the size of them. I prefer something with a little more decent handling. Once in a blue moon, I auto X and its hard enough in my car.

You have to put down the money, so its all up to you anyway.

 

You can find an owner of any car make that has been unhappy with their car. Toyota and Honda owners that have had their car in the shop just as often as an Audi or Mercedes. It really depends on how the car is maintained and who does the work. No doubt a German car will be more expensive in the long run than a Honda/Toyota, but you really can't compare the two.

 

 

I would look at the MKIV GTI or Jetta. They can be had in either 1.8T or 2.8 VR6 and are a blast to drive. 1.8T for mod potential, and VR6 for reliability and sound.

 

I would drive both a SS/SC and a GTI and see which you like better.

Both cars have their +/-

 

SS/SC will be a bit newer on average, faster stock and have an available LSD.

 

GTI will have a better interior, more practical, optional engines.

 

Both get great gas mileage, are VERY modable and have good enthusiast cultures. Of course coming from an Audi/VW guy and a MKV GTI owner I would take the MKIV GTI any day over the SS/SC.

I think he's looking for a second car. When I was looking for something new, I wanted a comfortable year-round sporty car. Instead I got something uncomfortable and summer-only'ish.. along with a beater on the side. I wouldn't do it any different.

 

I suggest getting something loud cheap and fast, and keep the Accord as a part-getter :nod:

 

the accord will be going bye bye actually. getting fed up with problems and such that have been happening with it. and i want something with some lower miles. im just gonna sell the accord for whats left on the loan.

 

right now this is more of a feeler though. it will probably be a little bit before i go out and make a new purchase.

An Audi would be nice but you missed the part bolded.

An F-Body or Mustangs are ok but winter driving sucks, can be dont though.

 

The last 3 look to be good options.
