boostedgtp
My uncle asked me to install a ls6 intake and a set of 1.8 rockers on his SS. I figured while its raining all the hotrods are covered up I might as well get started. He got a neat tool to compress the valve springs from SPDC, I figured I'd share. http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6771_243785885144_609340144_7831592_4361836_n.jpg http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6771_243785890144_609340144_7831593_6396694_n.jpg http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6771_243785875144_609340144_7831591_1789459_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs180.snc1/6771_243785845144_609340144_7831588_7062471_n.jpg http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6771_243785835144_609340144_7831587_4951870_n.jpg
SinisterSS
if you don't mind me asking how much were those roller rockers and what brand?
gillbot
be careful with that tool, they've been known to wear out prematurely. I'll stick to the crane tool since it does both springs at once: http://www.vincihighperformance.com/vinci/products/VALVETOOL/VALVE%20SPRING%20TOOL%20LS1%20250.jpg

Dave1647545494
am I the only one who still uses the tool the slips over the spring with the jackscrew and the t-handle on it? make sure you use something to hold up the valve when you pull the spring out

I find they can slip and mark up the spring. Using some sort of tool that presses on the retainer is always recommended..

Using some sort of tool that presses on the retainer is always recommended.. hooks under the spring on the bottom and presses on the retainer it just holds the spring compressed (like s strut spring) so you can change the seal or whatever and put it back on it may only be really usefull as a service tool since most people on here are changing the springs not the seal underneath
koolrayz
The crane tool is very nice but like $125 and I am cheap. This tool, Tim's tool from LS1tech is $30 and gets the job done. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC04502.jpg

Ray, why pay $30 for a tims when you can get a piece of bar stock from lowes and cut your own for under $3. I have two or three of the tim's style also just in case but the crane tool is WELL worth the $.
SinisterSS
that's the brand I had in my Iroc, I was looking at that brand for my SS but Larry said go with the Harland Sharp brand over those, I'm assuming since they are 1.8 ratio that the car has the stock cam? MrMeanGreen
Ummm, go with the Jegs brand like I have. They're re-badged Skorpions and the only aftermarket rocker that fit under the stock valve covers.
