Guest tbutera2112
ive got thousands of wheat pennys and 109 buffalo nickels....is there any place around here to get rid of these? idk if theyre worth anything or not...ive also got a ton of odd coins, nickels books of certain years etc...it was my gpas coin collection, but i have no use for it and its been sitting here for years should i just dump all the wheat pennies and nickels into a coinstar machine? BigZach
there used to be a coin shop on west broad somewhere near drs west
Avenger1647545502
There's a coin shop up in Westerville, can't think of the name of it, but it's on the left side of rt3 just past the Kroger. It's all about grade and condition. A coin that has been in circulation is just a coin, unless it is rare. Wheat heads picked out of pocket change are generally always worth a penny, LOL. He used to buy them by the roll, I think he was paying 55 cents for a 50 coin roll of common date wheats, but I have no idea if he still is. Some of the buffalos may be worth some real money, but most of them are going to be a nickel.
Rotarded1647545491
there used to be a coin shop on west broad somewhere near drs west Gemco. It moved down the street to a building in New Rome when they bulldozed the old Krogers. My wife did some clerical work for the owner, she's known him for years. boosted98gst
Yeah wheat pennys and buffalo's are usually the same price either a penny or nickel unless you have a super rare date or place its made. My dad just wants them because he does not want you to use them in a coinstar lol he would rather just keep them in his box. lol its all up to you go check around and see what people tell you. Guest tbutera2112
I've been doing coins since before you were born, you should let me go through them with you. all of them? or just the books? i looked at a coin guide, and marked a dot next to all the ones that were worth more than a dollar to a coin dealer, and im going to ebay them...i dont have any of the really valuable ones like 1943 copper, or the 1955 with the shadowed 5, or the 1922 thats silvery etc...1931-s and 1909 vdb and 1909-s are the ones i have worth anything i think...and that nickel in the shape its in the no cent v nickel, seems to be worth a little bit as well since its in perfect condition

gillbot
the '73-S isn't a rare coin, I also don't think it's worth more than $0.01 but it's been one that's been elusive to me for years. I'd like to complete this one book and pass it to my kids but I've never come across that one coin. As for the '43 copper, I have a couple and a bunch of other extremely rare ones I bought when I was a kid.

They'll never be sold. (When I say "I" have two, they are in a family safe deposit box as "I" alone don't own them.)
MrMeanGreen
I don't collect coins anymore and haven't had any in awhile. But there's too many out there people aren't aware of and I'd like to make sure he knows what he has before he sells them to someone as a lot. BloodRed
If you want to sell them, I suggest a coin show or Allen's in Westerville. eBay sucks because people want a killer deal before they will really buy any from there. If you think you have something a very good value, have it checked out by a coin shop and possibly have them send it away to be certified. It will greatly increase the chances of actually getting the value of the coin when you sell it.
gillbot
I don't trust most coin shops as far as I can throw them either. I've had a few that told me my 1909 VDB pennies are "worthless" but they'd take them for $1.
