Yeah it was modified, Opel GTs didn't come with 454s stock. At 1863 lbs, they are ripe for stupid swaps. In it's time, it was labeled as the "poor man's Corvette".

My dad and I restored one while I was in high school. Fun car to drive, handled really well, 1900ccs of slowness.

Darwin award IMO. WTF would he not just go to the track? Man, all that work into a car by someone with more than just a hobby going and he goes and ends it all with a dumb decision.

I don't like bad shit to happen to anyone, but I do have a breaking point when it comes to feeling sorry for those involved in stories like this. I'm no racing expert, but that car on that road just looks like an accident waiting to happen.

i had a hard time finding any sympathy for them because of their age....i could understand someone young and stupid making a bad decision...a males brain isnt fully developed until around age 25... but by their age, they should have known how to make better decisions

The massive 454" engine. Men at the scene were saying that the engine was just too powerful for such a small car.

.....

I won't say I've never test launched cars on the street but non of them were capable of running anything quicker then a 12.

Hey Rotarded, dunno if you realized, but this picture is of what the car looked like before (actually about 3 years back I think.) He was a semi-regular on a Opel Manta site I used to be on.

He changed the exhaust two years ago, did some other things too.
