Farkas
I know it's still a concept, and a concept that I really don't find much appealing, but I am excited to see a light-weight RWD concept in the works for Toyota and Subaru. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/06/toyko-2009-preview-toyota-ft-86-concept-brings-back-the-hachiro/ http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/ms2009_015-620op.jpg I'm hoping it gets toned down a bit if it goes into production. zeitgeist57
The design is French; it's going to be over the top, only to settle on "ugly" once in production. I like the idea a lot, though!
JaSSon
Why would Toyota use a Subbie engine?
Hwilli1647545487
They wanted a boxer motor for space reasons.

CRed05
I didnt see any mention of a turbo on that 2 liter, no turbo no care. Looks pretty cool though.

thorne
To my understanding the Scion version of the car will be NA but subaru is supposed to bring out a AWD STi Version. Again this is just rumors but man that would rock. Worse case once they come down in price get one and drop a EJ257 .

ImUrOBGYN
Toyotaru and those are the best shots I've seen so far. I kinda stopped keeping track when they postponed the car awhile back. I'm glad to see they may be back on track. I hope they keep it as low weight as they keep saying they are. I'm sure it'll be toned down quite a bit, especially the interior. But yeah, I'd drive it, as is.
Main3s
I'd take it!
Rally Pat
Awesome. A combination of my 2 favorite cars, Subies and hachirokus.

Draco-REX
I'd rock it. As for the Boxer engine in a RWD platform, it'll offer much better weight distribution and a lower CG. By using a boxer configuration, you can have a 4cyl engine roughly the same length as a 2 cyl. So they can sit the weight over the front axle or even behind it and still have a longitudinal arrangement, short wheelbase and small overhangs. And since Subaru has already invested the development cash, Toyota gets it for a fraction of the cost. All of the pictures you've sen have been artists' concepts. There's no hard information on what it will look like. But I would suspect a shortened Impreza with Toyota cladding. Though if it does hit US shores as a Scion, it should be more entertaining to look at than a toyota (or present-day Subarus.. ) Other scuttlebutt: Subaru may have an STI version. If they do, Toyota may rebadge it as a Supra.
GonneVille
Why would Toyota use a Subbie engine? Because they can't design a motor themselves that doesn't turn perfectly good oil into horrible black goo?
Fubar231
Because they can't design a motor themselves that doesn't turn perfectly good oil into horrible black goo? Bring back the 2j! Or go one up and design the 3j, or somethin...
TimTaylor751647545500
I like this one better. http://www.autospider.org/Album/2008NewYorkAutoShow/2010_Hyundai_Genesis_Coupe.jpg

TimTaylor751647545500
:gtfo: So, what you're saying is that it's wrong for me to state my preference? Ok, noted. And since you do seem to have such a keen eye for quality, I should retract my opinion. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f302/SevereSarz/IMG00031-20090903-1547.jpg
Fubar231
Thanks for posting the pic of my car in a thread people will actually look at! Yay! Im not embarrassed about my car, and thats why i posted those pics. Anyways, like i was saying, liking a hyundai over a toyota. What? TimTaylor751647545500
Again, it's wrong for me to state my preference? Especially when it has to do with a car that has been out and tested for a number of months now vs a concept? Gotcha.
Fubar231
Its the fact that you like the hyundai genesis coupe more than the idea of toyota bringing back a lightweight rwd sports car... But each is to their own. Pretty much comes down to Hyundai or toyota... But thats just me. Whatever.
