hpfiend
Hey all- Anyone know where to get small pieces of mild steel of varying thicknesses to weld on? I have beer/pop cans for aluminum and am looking for a source of plate Al next. stainless would be nice but I doubt anyone would have any of that around to sell cheaply? Who do you guys use locally for your quality metal stock when building things? Thanks, Andrew

Clifford Automotive
Im not sure that pop cans would be such a great way to practice...unless your just going to weld pop cans back together. If I hadnt just given all my scrap to the scrap guy that drives around, I would have welcomed you to dig through my pile.
Bam
my dad has scrap hoppers at his work, i'm sure he wouldn't mind a few pieces missing, you want all gauges or what? just small sheets like 6"x6" or what? i can grab some if you want
LS_Sonoma
Pop cans are great to weld end to end.
Benner
To bad this didn't pop up a few months ago. Had a 3/16th thick slab of stainless I would have given you. Ended up giving it to a friend.
