Miller
I just can't figure out what is up with this suv. I'm driving along and very randomly when braking the car will have issues stopping, like some gnome is on the other side of the brake pedal fighting me. As this happens a "clunk clunk clunk" sound comes from the brake/suspension area. As I get closer to a stop, the sounds are separated by longer periods. I thought first it must be abs, but I have no codes, and visually the brakes appear pristine. Secondly, I thought it was the Constant Velocity's so I replaced them. The install went smooth and after two drives I thought the problem was solved. It then returned the 3rd day. What else could it be? If I had replaced the cv joints would a bent/fouled/ engine or transmission mount ruin brand new joints within 60 miles? I just can't figure out what's wrong with this thing. It's lucky it's not as ugly as the corolla or I would kick it too.
Guest Removed
sounds like a abs issue. disable it and try that
LS_Sonoma
I would check the way the brake pad is physically attached to the caliper. Some times the clips become weaker than others and provide some "wiggle" room. Also make sure your bolts for the calipers are torque'd to factory specs. Hope this helps.
