RyM3rC
I need some idea on a DD. Was leaning toward an E46, but not sure now. What are you going to do if it snows? Get snow tires? Recommend quattro. You could probably find an xi, I guess. If you want to go fast and fix stuff buy a b5 S4. If you want to go slow and not fix as much stuff buy a b6 A4. Both have very nice interiors, which I think is paramount in a DD. Otherwise you might as well buy a beat to shit subaru.

Bam
Focus SVT - 6spd, decent get up and go, handles like a go cart, can get 30mpg, nice interior, 2 or 4 door hatch, and can find them with decent/low miles for cheap. Aka under 75k miles for under $7000.

Nitrousbird
Late 90's, maybe even an 00, LS1 F-body can be had for 10k. 20mpg or better - with a 6-speed, you can EASILY beat that Decent power - More power stock than anything else listed here 4 Seats - Check. Not a truck or SUV - It's a car Not a Grand Prix - It's not a Grand Prix, it's not FWD Not a Honda - Not an econo box. Seems like that meets 100% of your criteria. Rotarded1647545491
Im leaning toward a 1.8T A4. I need constant maintenance back in my life. ^fixed^ Seriously. I loved my A4. Just don't plan on having it past 125k miles unless you like working on it all the time.

AudiOn19s
If you've got an auction connection and can stretch your budget to say $13ish you could pikc up a 05.5 B7 A4 with the 2.0LT. It's worth the extra money over the 1.8T cars if you can swing it. E46 325 is a great car too though. Pretty different driving experience between the two of them. I'd prefer the 3 series if I were shopping today...but it does require snow tires to not be completely useless in crappy weather (not an issue if you drive the jeep I suppsoe).
