Optics are like scotch, you want top shelf taste - open your wallet. There are alot of brands out there, but I wouldnt buy one without comparing to a top shelf and seeing how it holds together based of some assesments from the field. Everything starts off with a purpose - knowing what you'll be doing with your weapon and it's capabilities should be major factors in your purchase.

What are you trying to put it on?

22LR. Been doing alot of research on some sniper forums and they suggest shooting a 22lr 25 yards 5 bullets within 1" diameter. Once that is acheviced (sp?) move to 50 yards @ 1". Then 100 yards. Then 200 yards @ 2".

So really just need a cheapy scope for a 22 to shoot 50 yards.

Then i will be purchasing my 7mm Rem Mag to shoot 200+ yards.

Check out the Mueller APV's. They are great scopes for the money. I have one on a 10/22 and I like it a lot. They are very popular on rimfirecentral.com. Check the link out below. http://swfa.com/Mueller-APV-Riflescopes-C135.aspx

You go to the cabin this weekend?

Also, what'd you find out on your camera research?
