evan9381 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Share Posted April 18, 2010 but come on... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3193.jpg?t=1271572091 decided i'd change out spark plugs first to see if it would help the stumble/rough idle on this explorer i got today started on the drivers side rear, worked way up front, passenger side front, worked back to rear. plugs are laid out in that order. figures the last one i get to, and the one thats the biggest son of a bitch to get out, i find what you see to the far right. 2.5 hours to change 6 plugs...time for me to start doing my own work again. a couple times i felt like i had no idea what i should do. seems much smoother now, so im happy with that. tomorrow hopefully i can get some other things knocked out. CRed05 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Share Posted April 18, 2010 Ha, I just did the plugs in the Disco yesterday because it had a slight miss, and it had the exact same plugs and they looked about the same, except i didnt have a missing electrode. I'm guessing they were the original plugs at 64K. The last one I did was also the hardest one to get out, took me about 20 minutes just to get the one out...I had to do 8 though. evan9381 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 18, 2010 well i guess i fail. i had stopped at autozone and picked up bosch plugs before i pulled these out. really though, i used bosch plugs in other cars and never had an issue. if these hold up for ~40k miles i'll be fine. im not so worried about it to go through changing all those plugs again...fuuuuuuck that. and its not going to be a DD...i bought it to haul shit to/from lowes, carry my canoe/kayak/bike, and the occasional snow storm weather we get a couple times a year. insurance company asked how many miles a year i'd drive it and i told them to put down 7500 but i think even that is a super high estimate. work is <5 miles away, hoover is 4, lowes is 1, so it wont go very far. knock on wood... motor has 169k miles.
