SlowZ06
My company issued laptop will let me check email and such via a wireless connection at home, a hotel, etc. However, to connect to our home office's AS400, I have to use a 800 dial up connection. Problem is, my home phone is through WOW. According to our help desk, the dial up won't work over a digital line. Anyone know a way around this? I know it's a pretty stupid problem to have; after all, why would you need dialup when you have a broadband connection...
jeffro
i believe its for security purposes. idk what kind of permissions you have on your laptop, but try creating a new connection under network properties. see if they have a VPN option. not really getting the gist of whats going on here. smokin5s
dude, WOW is not a digital line, tell your help desk they are fucking retarded. If you can plug a fax machine to your home phone line (which you can) you can hook up your modem. When I was in Blacklick, I had WOW and used my modem all the time. Nitrousbird
It will work through WOW. WOW is a "digital" line, but it converts from analog to digital at the EMTA (the modem by your computer). Faxes work just fine through the EMTA, so dial up can work as well. SlowZ06
Thanks for the responses, turns out our help desk IS retarded. Apparently, the real cause of the error 619 I was getting is that my username and password wasn't in all caps.
