Don't get your panties in a bunch over the overweight camaro not hanging. We all know it's a heavy car, but that's not my fault. Let's see... a lighter car making roughly the same power.....I wonder what is going to happen?

I also highly doubt that the high 15, low 16 second V6 camaro would be in the picture at all.

V6 runs low 14's @ around 98 MPH. I am betting that Camaro was a V6 car.

From what I saw at the track rental it takes 700hp to run 11's in a new camaro.

i seen that too

Not to be a dick here, honestly for once I'm not, where did you get that info? I know it doesn't mean anything, but the handful I have seen have been in the high 15 to low 16 second area. I'm sure there are the "good drivers" out there getting better times, but I haven't seen any. I was impressed with one of the newer auto SS's running full exhaust and going 12.5x's. That was a good pass with that heavy ass thing.

The best part about this whole new motor in the mustang is that it is sparking this old debate again. You have to love the rivalries. It's about time.

Not a lot of videos out there on it, but I've seen a bunch of stock times in the 14's listed.

In the youtube video, is that the stock exhaust on the camaro? If so, it doesn't sound too great. I realize it's a V6, but it just doesn't sound that great.

ok, but was this pass also made on slicks or just street tires?

The point that some people are missing is, these motors are 2 entirely different beasts. comparing a full bolt on, tune and slick stang to an SS with an exaust and street tires just doesnt work. for 1, the mustang has the advantage of having an overhead cam motor which doesnt make power until higher rpm, as compared to the LS3 that makes a crap ton of its torque down low (meaning its a harder car to get a good launch in on street tires)

my guess is, even though the camaro is a heavier car, with the same mods to both cars including slicks, they would be just about dead even.

the V6 camaro is rated at about 14.2, but ive read some where that there has been a few to run 13.9's stock.

Full exhaust and tuned 6-spd camaro running 11.8x's? I doubt it. It would need to be on a serious diet first.

I dont care what anyone says, i like it in everyway way more than the Camaro. Trim for trim, the mustang is a better car.

If it was my money id have a tough time justifying spending 35k on the 5.0, instead of the 300hp V6 that gets 31mpg (w/ an auto).

Incorrect - Mustang was NOT on slicks ( it was on DOT DRAG RADIALS) and it was not a FULL BOLT ON car. it had a Tune, mufflers, D/R's and some control arms!

list to full bolt on- CAI, MAF, Throttle body, under drive pulleys, gears, Headers, Off Road X-pipe, Complete Suspension, drive shaft, clutch. Feel free to add to the bolt-on list.

But the mustang was not a full bolt on car!

With slicks...possible. How is it the GTO I posted did it?

Well, it looks like some weight was out of the GTO

"The car was ran at the track with simililar form compared to LS1Mellisa, All seats, skid plate, gas brace, tow brace were all removed."

Also, the car was cutting 1.5x 60's which is way better than most of the GTO's running around with that power level. To run 11.8x's @112 you are either hooking really hard, or the car isn't full weight. It looks like both are the case here. Either way, that GTO is getting it done for the little bit that is on it. Just found another little bit of info. GTO owner estimated a 3400-3500 lb race weight for the car. My friends 04 was 39xx. There is your answer. A lot of weight reduction.

The mustang posted is the first one that has a full exhaust, tune, and tires. I have a feeling that it will run better with time.

Wow, what an informative video. Was that even an SS it was running against? Was that Mustang even stock? You don't even get to see the Camaro launch. I am doubting it.

But here are the dyno graphs from LG Motorsports getting 424 RWHP on a LS3 Camaro, bolt on's:

Very true, but what did the white one put down? It ran a tad better et wise. Of course you know how I feel about it :)

Neither car made anywhere near 700hp at that track day. Black car was a super heat-soaked 600rwhp and the white car who knows lol. It is dropping off next week for LSx heads and then we will find out for sure. Black car is getting complete fuel system and 10psi pulley back on which will put him back at the 740rwhp mark.

Main difference wasn't power -- it was that one was an Auto and the other a 6-speed :)

I know that the black one is a stick and the white an auto, but that white one had one hell of a shot of nitrous on it :) What else, other than fuel upgrades, was done to it? Kid driving the black car needs some seat time and a driving tutor, car makes good power.
