Some people considered the 1990-1994 Mercedes 500E is the best Mercedes ever made. They were made from 1963 through 1981 and were the zenith of German engineering. Complex hydraulics powered the windows, seats, suspension, hood, trunk and even power passenger door operation. When Potter's Mercedes was still in business in Columbus, the service manager told me that the last hydraulic system repair they did on one cost the owner 50k, and that was back in the late 80's.
