Draco-REX
Best car that I could afford? Got it. Subaru STI. Best car, period? That is much more difficult... I guess this car ticks the most boxes all at once: Aston Martin DBS. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4008/4672523239_bdf73d9af6_b.jpg But it's hard to pick one best since I like a lot of different cars for different reasons. Draco-REX
Well done sir. Been wanting a DB9 for eons...but not a good car to get into without a warranty. True, but we're not discussing warranties. Besides, the drop-dead gorgeous styling makes occasional service call easy to overlook. I don't know what it is, but Aston Martin has put their finger on what makes a car look good.

Ringo
Nothing says sports car like the 66' Shelby Cobra 427 S/C http://www.musclecarwallpaper.org/uploads/Muscle-Car-Wallpaper/1966-Shelby-Cobra-427S-6.jpg It's the epitome of all sports cars IMO. I've loved these cars since I could remember. (I also have a small spot for the 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Aniversary Edition, but the Cobra is #1 in my book.) And ^ that sir is why i have one in my garage.
Avenger1647545502
Not the best pic: http://grandcanyon.free.fr/images/tacot1/original/1924%20Hispano-Suiza%20Type%2068%20V-12%20Tulipwood%20Body.jpg The 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C 'Tulipwood' Torpedo was commissioned by André Dubonnet who, at the age of 26, was an accomplished aviator and racing driver. The Dubonnets had amassed a fortune from the aperitifs and cognacs that continue to bear the family name. Dubonnet contracted the Nieuport Aviation Company to build a lightweight body suitable for both racing and touring. Nieuport craftsmen formed a frame of wooden ribs measuring up to 3/4-inch thick which were covered with 1/8-inch wooden veneer. Strips of mahogany (earlier thought to be tulipwood) of uneven thickness and length were fastened to the veneer with thousands of brass rivets. The body was then sealed, sanded and varnished; when fully equipped, the body was to have weighed approximately 160 pounds. The torpedo tail enclosed a 46-gallon gas tank for long distance racing. In 1924 Dubonnet entered the Hispano-Suiza in the Sicilian Targa Florio and he finished sixth; he also finished fifth in the Coppa Florio and first in the over-4.5-liter class
