wnaplay1647545503 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Share Posted August 22, 2010 Recently microsoft essentials started detected several potential threats on my computer and although I click clean computer, they soon reappear. I also have noticed that my computer freezes alot. It is worse after I finally get it going and leave it for a minute then come back to it. If I reboot it, it takes a very long time for it to allow me to get online if at all. If I click something, it just stops the computer and I have to wait for it to finally load something or reboot again. Eventually it will allow me to get online, but it usually takes forever. I am sure my kids have downloaded something without knowing it, but where do I start with fixing it? Please keep the suggestions very simple or spell them out because I dont speak nerd. Does anyone know if I use the windows xp built in backup option, can I just run my restore disk(came with computer) and not lose anything? Generally this is on a few popular adult-oriented sites. Don't ask why I know. You can allow it or just deal with cleaning it every time. Just tried downloading the free version and it stated the setup files are corrupted. I am not sure why when I attempt to download it from their website, it automatically directs me to download it from techspot.com. If you are getting the currupt error then that is the trojan doing it. Boot to safe mode and then run it. If you still cannot get it downloaded, than download it on your laptop and then copy it to a usb thumbdrive. Then take the thumbdrive to your desktop. Also install and run it on the laptop! If it has seen porn....You will have issues on it too. Malwarebytes is awesome! It will find all sorts of stuff that you will never know is there....
