TurboRust
that is all, seems awfully quick so far, and its kinda skipping in and out.
copperhead
I caught it at work sunday night, for some odd reason its not out in Johnstown though
Flyin Miata
I get the feeling that even though it is officially out in the three big Ohio cities now, that coverage will still get better over the next month or so. I'm 25 miles from Cleveland and coverage in my town is spotty but getting better.
justinwebb
too bad its not true 4g lol, just a marketing scheme
Flyin Miata
too bad its not true 4g lol, just a marketing scheme True 4G is still just a term decided by some group of geeks. 4G or not, it's a lot fucking faster than 3G and that's good enough for me and probably 99% of America as well. They can call it GayButtsexG for all I care and I'll still be happy with it.
sol740
When I tether on "4G" I get 3-4mbps down and 1mbps up throughput on average. While that may not be "real 4G" (not really even close, nor is LTE for that matter) it is still way better than my usual 3G speeds and overall I am pretty pleased when it's available. Especially since I tether daily.
copperhead
my speedtest app showed 5 megabit the other day, that's damn near my home connection's speed
bicranium
lol... the guy getting 1mbps up with his mobile phone... that's faster than RoadRunner Turbo. Gonna go kill myself.
JaSSon
If you're at home why not just run off your WiFi?
RUTAN TA1647545492
I heard 12-12-10 was the official day for 4g

CRed05
Verizon or sprint? what we talking here? Yeah, Verizon is officially launching their LTE 4G on Sunday, which is actual true 4G, and Columbus is one of the cities that will get it first. I bet it still slower than T-Mobile's hspa+ though
Rally Pat
I don't care how you slice it, WiMax =/= 4G. I am kind of excited to see Verizon's first LTE devices, even being an AT&T customer.
TurboRust
I'm talking Sprint... does anyone getting "4g" notice battery life sucking it?
Flyin Miata
I'm talking Sprint... does anyone getting "4g" notice battery life sucking it? Yea that's part of the trade off for speed. Download Juice Defender, it nearly doubles my battery life.
sol740
That's early adopting for ya, battery pays the price.
Mr. Jones
Wimax chipsets are notoriously power hungry. Even one that discrete is going to chew up battery life.
Nitrousbird
The fact you are on Sprint is an automatic fail. I am amazed they are still in business with such shitty service.
Ramsey
all good in the hood. 2.3 down. .97 up
Flyin Miata
Wimax chipsets are notoriously power hungry. Even one that discrete is going to chew up battery life. It helps to only turn it on when you need it, just like wifi and GPS. No need for 4G if you're just browsing the web or something, but turn it on for downloading big files or movies. I got 4.6 down earlier tonight near a tower, feels good man.
Flyin Miata
The fact you are on Sprint is an automatic fail. I am amazed they are still in business with such shitty service. I've had Sprint for over 4 years, yet to have any problems with coverage, customer service or otherwise. For all the horror stories I hear, I guess I must be lucky. Tough to beat the old SERO plan though.
Putty
According to Sprint's site....it's all over the city now.
